Thread: Polybian Reforms??

    Default Polybian Reforms??

Hi all. I have a campaign as Rome where I control all of Italy, Greece, North Africa, and much of southern Gaul. My cities are heavily upgraded...and yet...where is the Polybian reform??? It's 150 BC and I'm getting nervous.

Blitz did you start the script when you started the campaign and each time you reloaded?

I did read the FAQs and I've fulfilled all the requirements. And what do you mean by "the script"?

Ah, that'll probably be the problem then...

The script gives you access to pretty much all of EB, and without it you're basically playing a better looking version of vanilla with more units. To activate the script, just click on a city every time you load a game and click the "show me how" button. Although, I think it's pretty hard to ignore the advisor until 150 BC...

Ah, so every time I load a saved game I click the "how me how" button on any city i control? That explains why I'm in 150 BC and my Principes are still fighting with spears...

You'll need to start a new campign, I'm afraid. EB without the script isn't EB, its just vannila with more provinces and units.

Plus the script gives you 4 turns per year that explains how you got to 150 so fast...

Ah well. I let Macedonia get way too powerful anyways, they conquered up to the Baltic. Ignore Carthage, she bites you in the bum. Ignore Greece, and one of those three Hellenic factions will become all powerful.

New Campaign it is then. Thanks for the help.

(Sorry for picking on you, Blitz, as the latest case study here...nothing personal...but...)

Good Lord...How much more can the Dev Team work to make the script activation process obvious to the user??!!??!!

There's a research topic on human cognitive behavior here, waiting to be explored...

IIRC unconditional in 204 bc, so I don't know what your problem would be there, Sarkiss.

Well, write it big 'n fat in the download and install section? So essential, of major importance, it should be written in illuminated blinking letters.

And it ain't that obvious if you are used to ignore the adviser in RTW and never encountered that sort of scriptactivation in another game or mod. Tell me, is there any other game or mod you have to activate scripting in a way like this? The casual gamer and non-computer-crack is simply not accustumed to, and you should know by yourself, not everyone reads the FAQ and readmes.

But he actually SAYS EB stuff! click show me how every time he pops up. Is it really possible to ignore this the hundreds of times you click settlements? I managed to ignore it twice in 0.74, but read it the third time.

Having problems getting EB2 to run? Try these solutions.

Well, the answer to this is quite simply yes, I think, afterall, we've had enough proof of it....

Um, the easiest way is to replace the background music with one of you guys yelling "LOAD THE FREAKING SCRIPT, PRESS THAT SHOW ME HOW BUTTON!!!!."

That's probably the best way to solve it.

Maybe we should just tell people that in EB when the advisor pops up you should click on him because he actually has stuff to say. Yes, I think it needs to go right at the top of the FAQ.

Precisely...Palasta, I realize this may not be the norm on other similar games, but...I just don't know how one can read this message after highlighting a settlement and choose to ignore it...??!?!?!?
