We have NZ Idol here, which is just as bad I'm sure. Personally I only find the first few episodes interesting because I like watching the judges verbally abuse the people who are so confident of their singing abilities but are so very very terrible.
I don't know if I quite believe you that the most horrible people get put through and the best people get told to sod off. I think you may be exaggerating a bit.![]()
YOU are exaggerating ;P It was only once instance of this example that I saw, and they weren't the best or the worst but just a couple of schmucks in general. Made me think what the hell is up with those jury people. They ain't that good themselves either: just some schmucks who have something to say because they were a bit popular in the country, maybe sold (some) records in the past a lot, and now they are a cheap jury on some piece-of-**** show.Originally Posted by Hepcat

Anyway, what are you doing here, Hepcat? You are under my remote mind control. Go forth and destroy NZ Idol![]()

Yeah, well... We have Star Academy. It's worse than anything you've got out there, because they are locked in a castle for the week, and during the week, you can check out their "adventures", "trials and tribulations"... Whatever. It's horrible. The worst is that for the first couple of series the finalists became renowned throughout the country (still are, I think). I mean, they delude themselves in thinking they've got talent enough to be an artist. It's not by staying in a place, training for a few months that you're going to become an artist. It's something people have or don't. And most people don't.

The singing on that show makes me suicidol.
Carrie Underwood is good but I couldn't care less about all the other winners. The ones in the beginning stages are absolutely horrible and then cry when they are told so. The big babies.

Along with the various soaps and other reality shows, this is the mind numbing **** that is being sold to the public.
As long as there are people who attach more importance on this insult than they do on actual reality, we will see more and more of it.
Just feed them a load of **** on TV and they are happy.....
Speaks volumes of the populace, eh? More interested in who is doing what on TV than the fact they are being shafted

I think you should stop caring so much. Why is this such a big deal to you? Just don't watch the program if you can't stand it.![]()
Few people actually watch those types of shows for the musical talent. Mostly they're watched by those that get off on seeing some poor misguided devil(s) make complete and utter fools of themselves and be ripped apart by the "judges". These types of programs pretty much sum up the attitudes of probably around 90% (when you consider how much of this rubbish is actually on) of 21st century TV viewers. Changing the channel is rarely enough, switching off is almost always the best option.

Yeah, I know. I also didn't say you liked it if that's what you mean ;POriginally Posted by Hepcat
It's not really that I care so much, it's just that I care about complaining about somethingHowever, I've been an artistic person myself, and seeing such commercial foolish rubbish that is actually popular shows me once again how ****** up it all is. A bunch of schmucks who enter some cheap show and then there are those who really know what musical art is about but they are totally ignored or not accepted at all.

I actually enjoyed this years "Australian Idol"
Lots of nice singers this year compared to last couple of years.. Except good singers got kicked out early.. damn Aussies...
Other years I just enjoy watching the first few episodes with all the abusing judges. I saw one of the American Idol season and Simon that british fellow was hilarious![]()
Some season are great but some season are just terrible..(Last years Australian Idol...)
