    Default Kotors, Vista

    Hi all,

Does anyone know why does Kotor 1 and 2 not work on Vista? Does anyone know how to fix that? patches? tricks?

I can't hink of anything obvious, and compatibility mode doesn't seem to do it either...

    Cheers

    How does it not run?
Does it just not do anything or can it not read/verify the CD or anything else?

From what I've seen it should run fine, however if this is not your thread, you are not alone.
I don't have the game, cannot test it or so but I would suspect a copy protection problem, maybe it has an old CP driver that does not work with Vista or so, just a guess, it's the case with Gothic 3 for example but Tages provided a Vista compatible driver version in that case.

Thanks for the link, I'll try it when i get home. What seems to heppen, is that the bink video files have some kind of problem... It starts loading them, and then goes black, and jumps back out to the desktop, with the windows error message...

I've gone dual boot to get the best of both worlds...

It is there for the Vista only stuff, but when I want an OS that finishes starting up in seconds rather than minutes and to run older games I have XP Pro too...

Yeah that might just be it... Anyway, none of the proposed solutions seem to work... I really had the Kotor bug...

    Works fine for me

Try grabbing a codec pack (say, klite) and seeing if that lets the video play...
