Well, it depends on how much 'surgery' you have to do at the end of the day. I implement the resolution solution, with the campaign map at 800x600 pixels and the battlemap at 1024x768 pixels. Might not work for you, though.

Of course, knowing CA, they might have done upgrades to MTW Gold that we don't know about so it works on newer computers.
