I saw a guy get hit with a javelin in highschool track, but he was just barely hurt. It was a cold day and his coat acted like padded armor. I do believe it made a large hole, though. He was taken to the hospital. Poor guy was the father of someone on a completely different team.

I don't find it funny at all and a big part of me not finding it funny has to do with how as a child I "almost" Impaled my self with a metal stick. It hurt like hell. He was lucky to have come out of it all right. In terms of unit placement I must Agree with Russia Almighty the Gaesatae for this guy.

Would the Javelin thrower get bonus distance point for lets say... the guy gets hit with the javelin and runs in panic another 50 yards forward?

    Oh god, this again...

Tero Pitkämäki ladies and gentlemen. Sometimes he's a bit too eager, but the range is exceptional. I have to admit, it was pretty funny the first time around, but I don't know if Salim Sdiri has recovered from it. The tip did some damage to his kidney and liver, so that's not good for a jumper. Judge for yourself if it's funny or not.

When I watched this video, I remembered something that was said on American Dad!

"You won't like yourself, but you'll laugh"

    Exactly what happened here.

In all fairness, though, I hope the guy's OK. Though if you look at his face when he's been speared, he clearly can't believe what just happened to him!

'Maar de eerste berichten uit Rome zeggen dat Sdiri er goed van af te komen'

Which translates to English (I'm Dutch! Yay for me!)

'But the first messages from Rome tell us that he'll [Sdiri] will be okay'

Oh, and I laugh because of the irony of the situation, not because someone got hit.

That was before they discovered that the tip had gone in more than 10 cm, not 4 cm as they initially thought. I have no idea of his situation now. I doubt it would be serious for a regular guy, but he's an athlete and it could really destroy his career. I hope not though. Any French out here? Does anyone know if he's competing already?
