is it possible to add a general as a marriage to one of your daughters, and like you can customize his traits and his name?
and can you change a generals name aswell?

Hi Celtic_Punk
Sadly, in R:TW, you cannot create your own characters - characters are quite simply either born, adopted (either randomly or through Man of the Hour) or married into the family.
The number of settlements you have compared to the number of family members effects the appearance of adoptions, and the number of unmarried female children effects the appearance of family members entering the family through marriage. The number of children which are simply born into the family is effected by the number of married family members you have, and, in some cases, any traits which married generals have which boost fertility.
You can, however, customise any family members which you do have by providing them with certain traits using a cheat code.
Firstly press the ` key to open the console.
Next type in
"give_trait [character's first name]_[character's last name] [trait's name] [trait level (number)]"
For a full list of traits which can be entered, and their levels, please see your "export_descr_character_traits.txt" file. This can by default be found in either:
"C:\Program Files\The Creative Assembly\Rome - Total War\data\export_descr_character_traits.txt"
should you be using R:TW Gold, or:
"C:\Program Files\Activision\Rome - Total War\data\export_descr_character_traits.txt"
should you have a standard version of R:TW - not Gold.
The BI version of the file can be by default usually located in either:
"C:\Program Files\The Creative Assembly\Rome - Total War\BI\data\export_descr_character_traits.txt"
should you be using BI as part of the Gold Edition, or:
"C:\Program Files\Activision\Rome - Total War\BI\data\export_descr_character_traits.txt"
should you have a standard version of BI - not part of the Gold Edition.
The directory may need to be located using the search function should you have installed the game in a custom location.
Good luck Celtic_Punk![]()

So its a no go for Gold all together?Originally Posted by Omanes Alexandrapolites
Yes, its fully possible with the Gold Edition. The instruction you have quoted is directing the user to the file containing the data for all the ingame traits - this varies slightly between the standard version (not Gold) and the Gold Edition.Originally Posted by mrdun

I don't think it works, I tried it before but it kept saying something like "Character could not be found".Originally Posted by Omanes Alexandrapolites
you cant change the name or anything? i heard you could import custom portraits, but not to a specific character...

Sorry, but no.Originally Posted by Celtic_Punk
There is a way of doing this, but it involves complex modding beyond my fairly basic knowledge of the subject. You may wish to ask about it in this forum.Originally Posted by Celtic_Punk

If you type "remove_trait this" with your character selected it will wipe ALL traits off of it, giving you a clean slate to work from.

promisance is an online text based game, its particularly good if like me your workplace has a firewall that restricts installation of games. I will pm you the links cos forums are funny re advertising.
im going to mess around with the traits and see what happens, because it would be even funnier to be battling against a coupla stacks led by some really modded character. I guess that wouold be a distinct possibility would it not?
Post away with those links carbz. Would the Arena be a better place than here?
im gonna post a reply here cos the arena doesnt work for em, and as quietust is admin for one of the games im sure no one would resent a bit of free advertsing for him.
