It\'s 1210!!! Where is my COMPASS?!?

I'm in 1230 now, playing as the English, and I still have invented a compass yet. When will I get it? Do I have to build something to get compass?
If any body know about this please help me.

Well, I was playing as brits and got it as soon as it was invented... Has the screen come up and said "the compass is invented!" yet? If not then nobody has it.

If so, I'd say you need the port and shipwright before you can get it. And anyway, the damn Caravell's dont go in deep water anyway (bug).

the compass was invented in 1169 so its already invented in your game. If you are wondering why you can't build a ship builders guild its because u need the invention of gun powder 1260. You don't have to build anything for the invention of the compass/gun powder but after it u have to build a bell foundry, then u have to build a cannon foundry this will allow u to build shipbuilders guild which lets u build cogs with cannons

I see but there has never been any message saying that compass has been invented! Is it possible where compass is invented but it doesn't tell u???

Really? Some ship I had went into deep water just fine, but maybe it wasn't a Caravell? Hmm.

Do you have the option selected to do with messages between goes? I was as confused as you when it happened, I couldn't build the higher level ship guilds etc. but I was sure I remembered a brief message that had popped up (which I'd clicked on so fast I didn't really have time to read it) which had mentioned compasses. It seems odd to need compass AND gunpowder to get something. Does Compass allow you to build things that you can't otherwise - without gunpowder? If not it seems kinda odd to bother with it at all.
