This is true. I just find it interesting that so many of the people who are out trying to convince us to give up so much are themselves sucking up resources and responsible for pollutants at a rate or 10, or even 100 times what the average person does.

    What about leading by example?

One would think, though, that if they believed their cause to be as crucial as they say it is, they wouldn't do such hypocritical actions.

How about instead of discussing gay marriage we discuss how hypocritical larry craig is?

How about instead of discussing whether the iraq war was right we talk about how bush served in the national guard instead of the army during vietnam?

How about instead of talking about how to deal with illegal immigrants we just talk about how tancredo's grandfather was an immigrant?

Lemur started a thread to bash gay Republicans. Check it out.

Been done. But if it's something you want to talk about again, start a thread.

How about instead of talking about how to deal with illegal immigrants we just talk about how tancredo's grandfather was an immigrant?
Was his grandfather an illegal immigrant? Not that it has anything to do with the thread- Im just curious.

You obviously think the fact that some people who are asking us to sacrifice so much to supposedly 'save the world' are apparently unwilling to sacrifice anything themselves(thus being hypocrites) isn't worthy of discussion. Noted.

    edit:
To me, the most interesting one is #6. CFLs are being pushed on us from green groups all the way down to WalMart. However, each one of them contains what's considered (at least by some agencies) unsafe levels of mercury. I encourage anyone to try to find a convenient location to properly dispose of / recycle these things. The only option I found was a service that you had to pay for and it involved Fed-Ex'ing your old bulbs to their location. Do you think the average consumer will do this? Heck no, they'll go in the trash and end up polluting landfills with mercury or even worse, being incinerated. What an environmental panacea, huh?

I probably agree about all those hypocrits.

However it's worth taking a look at our Mr Milloy's credentials:

Steven J. Milloy is a columnist for Fox News and a paid advocate for Phillip Morris, ExxonMobil and other corporations. From the 1990s until the end of 2005, he was an adjunct scholar at the libertarian think tank the Cato Institute.

Milloy runs the website Junkscience.com, which is dedicated to debunking what he alleges to be false claims regarding global warming, DDT, environmental radicalism and scare science among other topics.[1] His other website, CSR Watch.com, is focused around attacking the corporate social responsibility movement. He is also head of the Free Enterprise Action Fund, a mutual fund he runs with tobacco executive Tom Borelli, who happens to be listed as the secretary of the Advancement of Sound Science Center, an organisation Milloy operates from his home in Potomac, Maryland .

Milloy holds a B.A. in Natural Sciences from the Johns Hopkins University, a Master of Health Sciences in Biostatistics from the Johns Hopkins University School of Hygiene and Public Health, a Juris Doctorate from the University of Baltimore, and a Master of Laws from the Georgetown University Law Center.[2]

In January 2006, Paul D. Thacker reported in The New Republic that Milloy has received thousands of dollars in payments from the Phillip Morris company since the early nineties, and that NGOs controlled by Milloy have received large payments from ExxonMobil [3]. A spokesperson for Fox News stated, "Fox News was unaware of Milloy's connection with Philip Morris. Any affiliation he had should have been disclosed."

Great find idaho, just laughed about that.

I think the proverb "The pot calling the kettle black" seems to be in order here.

    From Sourcewatch.com

By just taking a look at the front page, one can see that this Junkman's intention is not to spread science, but to propagate against man made global warming. No one to take seriously when it comes to science in other words.

So if my intention is to spread my seed instead of spreading science should I not be taken seriously either? Or how about if I spread butter and jam over a freshly toasted English muffin?

How can I take you seriously when it comes to vetting a source?

Reinvent the British and you get a global finance center, edible food and better service. Reinvent the French and you may just get more Germans.

He does not care about whether global warming is man made or not; in his world man made global warming is not possible. He does not support his views with real science; despite that the website is supposedly scientific.

    For instance this sentence:

A "leading debunker" of global warming by Rolling Stone magazine.
No scientist doubt global warming, we can all see it in the temperature data. As a scientific correct site one expect the phrasing to be correct and not direclty misleading like that.

Really, take a quick glance at the webpage and tell me it is not biased.

(and by biased I mean they have already found the truth on that site. no scientist may ever come and say humans ever affect the climate!)

Edit: LOL, browsing some more at that website's frontpage; it is truly ridiculous in scientific sense.

If this was the aim of this argument, why did you just happen to pick "green" hypocrites? Maybe I'm just nit-picking...

    Mod .

In less there is a hidden point I'm missing. Are you taking lessons from Louis?

While Idaho cites good information it's also just another attack.
