    Default Advice on campaign

So,my first thread in this forum! Well, anyways, let's get to point.

I'm playing Parthia M/M,i own all of Middleast till city below Thapsus, and invading Scythian steppes right now.I also own Crete,Rhodes and Athens with Corinth in Medd. Islands. With all those rich Asia Minor settlements, and Egypt big three, cash is just flowing, accounting that i have vast militiary and Very High taxes without going to blue face.

So,my actual question is on army composition:Since i didn't bother adding too much Cat,or at all,to armies (It's 227 BC right now,no Marius Reforms yet) i wonder, should i get disband my normal HAs to get more quality Persian cav. and Cats,or should i keep with HAs,General and mercs. until i don't need to change it? With 3 Cats i can overrun light Numidian stack in blink of eye,but to cope with my economics i would have to disband most of/all of my HAs.

So,should i start changing or not?

Ok,so,scratch that question,Marius Reform just happened. So,i'll pretty much NEED Cataphracts to stay on quality par.

    Well,new question:What should i do:
Conquer all Balkans, and then march on the Italy,or should i first get all Africa and launch offensive to Sicily, and THEN from Sicily to Italy.

Thanks in advance.Oh,BTW,where is edit button for post?

Bearing in mind that I'm no expert on RTW, I personally would take Africa first, if only to eliminate the Egyptians. They often end up becoming a major power in the game, and are likely to be your biggest threat (at least in the near future). They also have rich lands, which certainly doesn't hurt!

Also, you might want to ask your question in the Colosseum, Dragunija. I suspect you may get a better response there than in here.

Thanks.Actually, all Egyptians are long dead.Meh,i fought with them all from start to now.Anyways,i control city below Thapsus,so i can go and push
Scipii away from my continent! Anyways,i DO have Crete and Rhodes,so not to worry about money.
    Okay,i'll try Colosseum,then.

i agree with martok, Africa is rich enough but the real advantage lies with your cavalry, africa is mostly wide open spaces and the numidians and carthaginians are too stupid to exploit it. build up good stacks of all cavalry (for speed) and blitzkreige any wandering armies, the southern factions have few spearmen so that is a plus. when you reach the north african cities they are far away so fitting in with the blitzkreig attack don't bring infantry, when you reach the city walls simply hire some mercs to use the ram, carthage if it still lives is most likely caught in war with the romans so by hitting there african power base your essentially killing them. but be warned this will empower the romans so retain peace until you have a ready navy and good stacks, force your way into sicily then.

ok, hope this is a good strategy for you, worked for me but i hav'nt played RTW for almost a year now (MTW2 instead) best of luck. (btw it will take a while for rome to fully enact the reforms so tke unwanted units and do suicide attacks on roman provinces to keep them cordoned off.

In my Greek Cities campaign, Cartage dominates Africa, except Mauritania which is controled by Spain, who controles Palma and all the Iberian Peninsula.
