Default Cant modify the rebel spawn rate

    Hello,
I just recently switched over to Leopard OS system for macintosh and ran boot camp which enabled me to use Windows Vista and thus continue to play EB. When I reinstalled EB and all the RTW requirements I went into the descr_strat section to adjust rebel spawn rate. After adjusting the spawn rate and trying to save, I get an error saying
    "cannot create the C:\Program Files\Activision\Rome - Total War\EB\Data\world\maps\campaign\imperial_campaign\descr_strat.txtfile.
make sure that the path and file name are correct"

I have no idea what to do and didnt have this problem before
any advice would be much appreciated
    thank

Vista does not allow you to alter files in the game directory. I think there is some way to turn this off, but I don't know how. You can save the file with a different name, delete the original, then rename the differently named file to the original name. I've heard that that should work.

Ya, the best advice I've heard is that you have to wait a year or so until they patch Vista, like what occured with XP. But Vista's bugs are actually seemingly "features" or something.

All this stuff is supposed to "secure" the OS from tampering, but it is really just make work. It's better to scratch VISTA and install XP in its place.

That's probably why Microsoft is so interested in making all those "VISTA" only programs. Ensure you have to use Vista.
