    Default Wii problem

As the Wii seems to feature on here quite a bit can anybody help with a problem that has developed with mine?

The controler when switched on lights up the 4 blue lights at the bottom of the controller for a few seconds then they all go out and we are not able to register the pointer on the screen etc - in fact the control does not work at all. I have replaced the batteries and tried pressing the red buttons on the console and controller to syncronise them, but that did not seem to work. However, I only tried to do this for a minute or so - should I try it for longer?
    So - any ideas??

Take out the batteries, turn on the wii, switch it off again, put batteries back, presto!

It's worth asking what you're doing when this happens too. I know some games only allow one controller to connect when the game is running. Of course, if you're at the Wii menu, I think both should connect fine.

Sadly I tried your fix and it didn't work. Also trouble shooting tips on the Nintendo website didn't work so it looks like the controller. We only have one anyway so I am off to get another tomorrow - we need 2 - and if all works OK it will be back to Nintendo for a warranty job as the set up is only 6 months old.
    Thanks for the help though.
