Thread: Client ruler becomes uncomfortable supervisor/Satrapy ancillary

Default Client ruler becomes uncomfortable supervisor/Satrapy ancillary

Early in the Macedonian campaign, the Client ruler in Mytilene (he is there at the start of the campaign) becomes an uncomfortable supervisor. For obvious reasons, I cannot move him to another city. It does not make sense that client rulers can aquire that trait, and so should be fixed.

In a Seleucid campaign, my faction heir in Susa aquired the Satrap of Susiana ancillary. I later made the mistake of moving him to Seleukeia, and he got the "not in his satrapy" trait while at the same time being impossible to move no matter what time of the year it was (there was no obvious trait greatly reducing his movement rate, and the babylonian new year is only one season a year). So I transferred the title to someone I could actually move to Susa, but the heir still retained the rather inconvenient "not in his satrapy" trait. Surely it should check to see if he still has the ancillary and remove it as appropriate?

Edit: I made a mistake, this should of course go in the bug reports forum. I request a move.

I once built a theater in a town with an uncomfortable supervisor, and the trait went away. Coincidence? I don't know. But I think the trait means that they are unsatisfied with the town, so, perhaps improving the town in a manner that is pleasing to the governor really does solve the problem, and without having to move him to another town.

As far as I know that trait is related to the size of the city (Uncomfortable Supervisor). Traits are drawn from a global pool and thus client rulers acquire the same traits as everyone else. It may be possible to add a conditional statement to a wide variety of traits so they're not reflective of client rulers. I do however believe that client rulers could be quite uncomfortable with their rule. They could be uncomfortable that they're puppets of your empire, and lots of other reasons but that's a roleplaying aspect.

The thing is, the trait appears even if you have built all you can in the town (I tested it with process_cq). Uncomfortable supervisor means that they want a larger town to govern, and you cannot fulfill that request with the 100% movement penalty. Therefore it does not make sense that a client ruler can aquire it, and discontent with being a puppet should be expressed in a different manner than wishing for a more important governorship.

There are several traits that client rulers aren't going to be getting in the next release, uncomfortable supervisor is one of them.

well, techniquelly any ruler can acquire that trait.
Think about it. All rulers are not perfect or right

    Yes, but:

    A) the client ruller comes from the city in question, so he should be happy there.

B)As others have pointed out, if a client ruller was unhappy for some reason, he wouldn't be unhappy cause he wanted the rule of a larger settlement in your empire, that doesn't make sense.

They can become "uncomfortable", that is discontent, if you do not develop their town. Upon the question "What have the Romans done for us?", make them say "This, that's what." instead of "Nothing, the bastards".
