    Default wierd ctd

    hey everybody I got a weird CTD when I was playing pontus and I decided to siege the galatians city ancyra or something and when I went to attack it it crashed and said generic error failed to find texture EB/Data/models_unit/textures/unit_barb_infantry_dacia.tga'.

    does anyone have that tga file. because when I look at the eb installer in 7-zip I can't even find that file whatsoever!!

    Your game may be corrupt.
    I would try the fixes (especially the oppidia fix) and see if they help.

    yeah when I installed the game I added all the fixes to EB. I am going to just reinstall the game. I wanted to see if I could fix the game I had going on instead of a new install. Thanks anyway. By the way is that tga file even a europa barbarum one or is it a rtw one in the textures folder. I also ran the eb validation tool and there was nothing I could see that was linked to this so I will just try a fresh installation tomorrow thanks anyway

    I'm pretty sure that is a vanilla file, I don't know why it is even looking for it...

    Reinstalling may be a good idea, you could save your savegame and it should still be good after you reinstall.

    Are you playing 1.0 or an older version? (The version number is displayed in the main menu)

    If you are sure that you are playing 1.0, we need some more info from you:


    We need ot know every unit that is involved in that battle. pls make a screenshot of your army compositione and another of the enemy.

    This sounds like a cas file problem.
    the texture files are not only referenced in the dmb text file they are also saved in the .cas file. There was an error with 0.8 Baktrian Hippies, somehow their .cas file had saved the texture path and name of the vanilla dacain inf.

    well lets see It was all the original ankyra garisson 2 tindontae 2 galatian shortswords 2 uirodusios 1 galatian heavy infantry and the general and his lavotuxri medium horse. My pontic army was 2 uirodusios 3 Ioudaioi taxeis or whatever and 2 thracian peltests. another thing you guys and girls should know is that I added mercenarys to anatolia by adding them in the desc_mercenaries text document. I got the names from the desc_strat document

    the only anomalies I got were that the iudaioi taxeis would have a unit card when they were mercs and when I hired them they don't have the card regular picture but the old one when units did not have cards
    ps how do I take a screenshot. and just for your info I never even made it to the battle itself it crashed when It was towards the end of the loading bar of the battle. so im not exactly sure what you want.

    bäm! you should ahve used the names of the mercenaries file insted of the descr_strat.


    ok,

    have you been able to use the Ioudaioi taxeis in a differerent battle? Since they are no merc unit this seems to be the reason for your CTD.

    edit: you can use the print screen to take screenshots, there is another button i always forget, which you can lookup in the rtw keyboad option

    i honestly don't know if this solution works, but you can try it:

    open the export_descr_unit.txt

    search for the Ioudaioi taxeis slave and add pontus to the ownership line.

    so is that why the same ctd thing did not happen for the celtic infantry uirodusios, and celtic cavalry lavotuxri, since you can't recruit them anywhere for mercenaries but because pontus can build lavotuxri, and uirodusios in galatia or other places (you know what I mean). So can anybody explain what to do if you want to know if!!!! and how!!!! you would add units just to the mercenaries rosters in certain areas. I do this for roleplaying (somewhat plausible historically). For instance with the iudaioi taxeis.....my reasoning is that with the basic phalinx (sp) unit that most hellen factions get (Pantodapoi Phalangitai ) is made up of syrians, jews, persians and other peoples of the levant. so technically Pontus could of had the iudaioi taxeis. or for another example I added all the indian units beside elephants to the mercenaries roster of the southwest arabian peninsula since they had trade with india its plausable that mercenaries and people of india could have technically been seen in saba lands(see my way of reasoning). I'm not going for example give rome units to the casse. Just trying to be kinda historical in a way that spices some things up and that its plausible. So can sombody tell me how I can do this correctly without ctd's(is it like what Bonney said. Open the export_descr_unit.txt
    search for the Ioudaioi taxeis slave and add pontus to the ownership line. And then I would have to put Ioudaioi taxeis to the desc_mercenary text doc correct!!!!! This would make some interesting AAR's (saba settling galatian mercs imported from egypt to Marib!!!!!!!) ehh ehh!!

    Sometimes certain factions don't get certain units because they wouldn't have them historically. Other times, they do not get the unit due to model sharing restraints. It is best not to try to add units to a faction (an impossible task mid-campaign, btw) if you are not 100% sure of what you are doing.

    To get them to work correctly, you have to ensure that the faction doesn't have another unit on the model, then you have to assign them ownership in the EDU, then you have to assign them a skin. This is not savegame compatible.

    sounds complicated to do but I do understand what you are saying. so for example (i'll stick with the theme) If I were Ptolemies(egypt) and I put Ioudaioi taxeis in the merc roster for lower egypt it would work because ptolemies are able to recruit them naturally in the levant so they allready have the skins and model for them. But if a faction for example Getai somehow had a FM down in lower egypt and they decided to recruit said Ioudaioi taxeis that I put in the desc_mercenaries text file for lower egypt it would crash because getai do not have a model or skin for the Ioudaioi taxeis.

    Another question is does that mean all factions have skins and models for all the mercs that you guys put in EB or is that somthing different alltogether than from your lastpost MarcusAureliusAntoninus. I am curious by nature and this is helping me understand the mechanics of europa barbarum and the modding of rtw.
