    No, you're thinking of law.

Ludens, one way that loyalty differs from happiness is that it does not affect public order. This was a common problem in 0.8 and hasn't been completely fixed in 1.0 (though it's better now). It was more common to see on unique buildings, now it's just a handful of temples which you've identified. As far as I can tell in-game, the loyalty bonus does nothing whatsoever. It's possible that it's doing something subtle that doesn't show up in the settlement display, though. I haven't bothered doing a search & replace on my EDB to make them all happiness bonuses since it's easy enough adapt in-game - either build a new type of temple, or just suck up having a weaker temple (some of the large starting Marduk temples for AS, for example).

Many thanks for putting this guide together!

Thanks for the information jhhowell. I will add it when I next update the guide. Due to the Christmas holidays I've got a bit more time on my hands, so I may have a look at the temple-related traits and ancillaries as well. No promises, though.

    Great advice thanks.
Is there anywhere that tells of the effect on characters traits, I know temple of Ceres helps with the "Popularis" trait for the Romanii, and in vanilla Temples of Venus could lead to some very nasty de-bauched drunkenness etc.

I've had a look at the relevant sections of the EB trait & trigger files, and gave up after seeing that in MS word they took 160 pages. There are all sorts of interactions between the temple type, faction, worshipper-of traits, the 6 main personality traits and several other traits as well. Perhaps there is a system in there, but I didn't have the time or energy to figure it out.

very interesting thanks, i didnt know Ceres give a +4! trade bonus... im going to convert more of my temples to Ceres... also i dont understand what is the difference between Minerva and Iuppiter, is it good to build a temple of Minerva just only for gaining some specific traits? In fact the only difference is that Iuppiter give +2 law than Minerva, so i dont see any other use for the Min. Temple.
