Hello Total War Fans & Community,

This is Teutonic Knights from Konigsberg Castle, Prussia!

At present I have purchased MTW:VI & will purchase MTW2 + Kingdoms expansion pack.

One question I would like to know is how do you play the Papacy? I understand that you need to edit files, could someone show me how?

Guten tag, TeutonicKnights. My niece used to play the papacy 2 months ago--it was probably a mod, downloaded by her elder brother, that opened the faction for her on my MTW-VI. I don'tr know whether the mod can be opened when you've completed a campaign and achieved victory: the MTW of my computer was installed 3 years ago, and the VI expansion added more than a year ago. When I see my niece (and my nephew, her elder brother) I'll ask if it was a mod, and if so, which mod it was. Most likely, they got it from this .org or from twcenter.com. But maybe somebody else among this community can answer you sooner. Have fun executing heretics in your future games. Hawooh.

Either check the "mods in development" thread in in this forum or edit the descr_txt file yourself. Simply move the Papal States from the Unlockable to Playable position in the document.

Thank you for your post. In your reply you stated that I needed to edit the descr_txt file yourself. Where is this file in MTW: Viking Invasion?

Umm, its been some 5 years since I played MTW/VI. In M2 and RTW it´s located here: Total War folder/ Data/ World/ Maps/ Campaign/ Imperial Campaign. Otherwise you can always search for the desired doc or folder through the start button.
Have a look at the modding sections in this forum. I know you can find guides how to edit almost everything. Good luck!

Sadly it doesn't exist in M:TW VI - its got an equivalent though, although it is in a harder to understand language than the M2:TW/R:TW "descr_strat" file. Feel free to ask for more details in this forum - the modding experts there should be able to assist you.
