    Default DVD-ROM Issues

Lately the DVD-ROM will not be recognized, so the game will always tell me to put in the correct disc even though it is in the drive already. my dvd-rom drive still works with everything else.

    ideas?

    To further explain the issue:

If I want to get the game to work I have to remove and insert the CD several times. Maybe one out of five tries it will work. This has only happened very recently, I have had the game since release and never had a problem.

check you disk for any visible scratch or dirt on it surface. If it's dirty, try gently wiping it with a soft cloth from center to outer edge (not in circular motions).
You can also clean you DVD drive with a special cleaning DVD disk.

    Hope this helps

What type of drive do you have? I've had the occasional issue in the past with combination ROM/RW drives not being able to read a copy-protected disk, and keep a basic ROM only drive in my computer now just for these.

I had the same problem apparently for a month or so. As Quillan suggested I used my ROM drive. Lately the RW drive works ok. I always just blame Microsuck when this stuff happens out of 18 years of habbit.
