Unless you are fully versed in the mysteries of the EDU, it is foolish to try and interpret the stats in EB. The triarii are, for example, weaker on the unit stat sheet because their formation has completely changed so the basis for their stats changes as well.

Did I understand that properly? Are the listed stats really useless? I haven't usually found that to be true, but I haven't really played the Romans yet.

The EDU puts a higher emphasis on having a higher cost with higher morale. The Polybian triarii has higher initial morale, if I recall correctly, which ups their price. Even though in the end, the poly triarii is still cheaper than the hoplite maniple triarii.

Not at all. Actually this question should probably be in the FAQ if it isn't already, as we get a lot of questions about stuff such as this.

Guys, you can just look at the unit cards that are provided with the mod, in the documentation folder. They are also available through the recruitment viewer, if you download that. This will show some of the important things, such as secondary weapons, lethality and mass. There might still be some minor things in addition to those stats, but they give a much better idea of what a unit is all about than the in-game information.

aha, so I should perhaps have trained more polybian triarii and not tried to desperately keep them away from contact with an enemy units when I played as romani Thanks, this will put a new perspective on how I'll play EB! Up till now I've mostly checked the visible stats, which may explain why I've sometimes been surprised at the relative performance of units...
    Under construction...
