    Default First campaign finished.

I am really ashamed to say this but after 3 years of playing TW games, I only just finished my my first ever TW campaign today.
I finished a STW campaign as Imagawa and it was the most fun I've ever had in a TW game, so fun in fact that I'm going to start another STW campaign.

Outstanding, Xehh! I take it you and the Mori managed to successfully wipe out the Shimazu and Oda then?

And by the by: You needn't feel ashamed about not having completed a campaign before -- I have a feeling that's more common than you think. To be honest, I myself have probably never completed more than a dozen campaigns or so (and most of those were in Shogun, not MTW).

No, the Mori ended up forming an alliance with Oda and declaring war on me and when Hojo was destroyed Shimazu took over their provinces, giving Shimazu most of northern Japan. Mori turned christian and stormed me with guns, I lost most of my provinces before a Ninja killed Mori Masimoto(sp?), that Ninja ended up winning the game for me, I used him to kill all the Daimyos and their heirs and I just took over the rebel provinces,(I had the victory conditions on 40 out of 60 provinces).

Wow, that's pretty dramatic -- you've gotta love how the game can hinge on those types of events!

By the way, I hope that ninja was given full retirement benefits.

I actually also stop playing more often, than finish the campaigns. Usually some new mods come out, or even a new Total war game, and I have to try it, so I abandon the campaign...

    Xehh,

After 8 years of gaming, 4 major TW-titles and 5 expansions I´ve never completed a full campaign. One of this games greatest flaws is the lack of challenge once you´ve reached that point where really no one can compete with you. I´m not a conquer-all-kinda-guy. Here´s where I usually stop and restart.
With Shogun I always finished but on the other hand that game is more like an expansion as MI is. With MTW I usually quit when I´d reach my Glorious Achivements, same with VI. I´ve never finished Rome either, or BI but I did play Alexander to the end once then uninstalled it. M2 didn´t change anything. I have however finished all campaigns in Kingdoms with most of the factions.
Its kinda telling that the "game" that has intrigued me the most during the TW-era is actually not produced by CA - it´s EB. That mod enhanced my gameplay to some 4-500 turns instead of the usual 50-100. Can´t wait for EB2 to be released for M2.

IMHO there has only been 2 games in history that had me endure playing from the start to the end: CIV II and EU II & III.

Yeah, EB is awesome but I've never finished an EB campaign either, as Rome I hardly even made it to the Polybian reform.

Yeah but sometimes campaigns can just get so boring that you can't continue, this is the first campaign that kept me interested the whole time.

All my STW games ended in Cold Wars between me and whoever else survived. We both ended up with half of Japan. M2TW and MTW are the only TW games I've played all the way through, maybe a couple of STW campaigns as well(can't remember :D)

I finished another STW campaign today as The Shimazu, it wasn't as good as my Imagawa campaign though but still alot of fun.
No great generals to add to my sig.

    Hey Xehh,

One of my favourite STW campaigns of all time is one you should try. 1. Play Shimazu and just take the isles then stop and wait for the Portugese. This will give you just 3 border provinces. 2. When they arrive covert to catholicism. Take out the Mori and set you new borders just west of the capitol, still 3 border provinces if I remember correctly. 3. Next target is the 3 provinces just east of the capitol that cut the island right through. 4. Take out the rest.
Between all advances tech up and consolidate and aim to turtle a lot. I´ve had splendid battles against the Hojo or whoever is the dominant eastern faction at stage 3 and 4. My sole aim was to make the game last as long as possible and also give the AI a chance to actually pose a threat to my christian forces.

One other, far harder one, is playing the Hojo. Turtle as much as u can and wait for the Portugese and do the same scenario as the Shimazu but just the other way around. In fact I´ve played all factions like this. It´s easy to blitz in Shogun but turtle is the way to some epic battles.
