Thread: Roads

I'm not sure if anyone else has this problem, but I'm a sucker for roads, I simply can't ignore it when I can't build the roads that my enemies can, it just irritates me for some petty reason

Anyhow, is there a way to alter what factions can build what roads?

Because I'd like to believe that after years of contact with other more advanced factions that my people would have learnt to copy, for example the Saba finally building paved roads after extensive contact with the Ptolemoi.
Wouldn't the Sweboz, Casse or the Lusotannan have realised how comparitavely crummy their dirt tracks were to the superior highways of rome?

Wasn't sure if this should be in techincal help cause this isn't exactly a problem

ty in advance

They didn't always traverse the great highways of rome & other "civilised" states. Also the roman highways were more extensive in the Italian peninsula & much less so in the bordering areas where the so called "barbarians" lived

I wonder if it required some aspect of culture or some other infrastructure that the road builders had and, for instance, the lusotannan lacked?

EDB I think. But there would possibly be others to make cope with the changes you make there.

I've become aware of the changed names for factions in these files, such as seleucid being the romans, thrace being epeiros and the brutii being bactria. Does anyone know if there is a list of the faction equivilents around?

thanks

if you go to data folder for EB, and go to fmv folder, i think theres a folder called "defeat" or something, and the defeat sceens are named in their RTW names (so the baktrian defeat screen is called "romans_brutii or s/t) so if you click on them it wil show you the faction in EB. but windows media player cant show all the files, so id suggest Irfanview for it- it can play all of the media files in EB.

I believe there used to be a file in which all factions and their in-game matches were listed. Probably it got axed to reduce the file size.

Thanks! There are dozens of ways to figure them out (I thought shield emblems, e.g.) but a handy list is always appreciated.
