    Talking Unspecified Problems

yeah, so i received medieval 2 total war kingdoms for x-mas, for the first few times i played i was quite pleased, and then suddenly the problem began.
It is simply this, every time i enter a battle to control the forces myself (the battle map) the game just shuts down "due to unspecified problems". it is not every time, roughly 80% of the time i cannot bring up the battle, even on the 2nd or third try. So i have had to entrust some very important battles with some very cherished units to some very incompetent AI (do you know how hard it is to get cannons in the Americas!!!)
you gear heads have been a lot of help to me in the past, i pray you can aid me in this.

    Talking Re: Unspecified Problems

hmm, after a bit of experimenting i have figured out that it is indeed not that it won't do certain battles, it just won't do siege battles.

any battle where the city is involved on the battle map my game closes down on me. Why would this happen?

I'm no expert on MTWII errors, but if I had to guess I'd say you might have some corrupt files specific to the buildings. Can you try a siege against a fort?

Anyway, my advice is reinstall. That's a good general first line policy for generic errors like this one, as it's going to be very difficult to narrow down.
