    Default good computer? joke..ish

    specs:
    Intel® Core™2 Q6600 Quad-Core
    4GB ram
    HARD DRIVE 500GB
Dual 768MB Nvidia GeForce 8800 Ultra
    AGEIA® PhysX® physics accelerator

I was playing around with the dell website and made this
Im pretty sure that would play just about any game out now on highest setting
It costs $4,118. I doubt I would ever be able to buy it but we can dream can't we?

I stupidly did the following, my friend:

    I went to circuit city.

I found their most expensive, widest screen laptop.

I fully cutsomized it with every single one of their most expensive additions, add-ons, and programs. Double RAM, double storage capacity, everything.

The only way to make it better was to buy another computer and hook them together.

Guess what? It overheats. It's got 3 pixels which do not turn on. And it cannot handle M2TW at full graphics capacity during battles.

    DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY.

Money does not always equal performance. My stepfather built a faster computer with 600 dollars.

A friend of mine did that with Alienware; he spent more than $3k on a laptop. He's had it less than a year, currently is on his third or fourth motherboard, with at least one CPU failure, 1 video card failure, and a hard drive failure thrown in to boot. It gets so hot he literally can cook with it; he'll set a saucer of crackers topped with cheese next to the computer, and the exhaust will melt the cheese.

Fortunately nothing has actually broken yet, save those three pixels and a battery which holds almost no charge.

Money does not always equal quality.

Case in point, my workplace sells fuel injection cleanings for $19.88. The dealership will sell you that same service for anywhere between 75 to 100 dollars or more.

People can, and will, always rip you off if you have money and are stupid enough to spend it without checking your facts first.

Build one yourself, and buy a roomy case with a lot of airflow. It's always cheaper and better to build one yourself.

You might also find that a local small business in your area (with a good reputation that is!), who do custom builds, may be able to do you a really good deal for half the price of those big "over the phone/net" companies.

I know when I got my new base built earlier this year, I got quotes from dell and then went to some people in my area and they were (A) more flexible and (B) heaps cheaper. As a result I ended up getting a computer with everything I wanted for about $2800 ($AUS) as opposed to practically the same thing from dell at about $4200. Plus also I didn't have to buy a screen or speakers as my old ones were just fine and still top notch!

Just do your homework, get as many quotes as possible and then go with the best deal you can get.

(don't worry I was like you, I thought I will never buy anything like that. Then suddenly I was at the bank adding to my current loans!)

I bought mine for 120 euros, the pc, mouse, keyboard and screen. Took some memory from my old rig and bought a new graphics card (around 100 €)... This is the computer I play M2TW and battlefield 2 with. Good deal, one might say. Intel P4 2ghz, geforce 6600 256 mb etc. Bought the thing from an office which was upgrading its pc stuff, that's why it was soo cheap. Obsolete stuff
