Thread: Syracusan Hoplites

    Default Syracusan Hoplites

For a long time I was a lurker on forums. I decided to come out to ask a question about one specific unit in the game.

I am writing work about Agathocles and his campaign in Africa, so I`m naturally interested in sources for Syracusan and Cathaginian army. In EB we have Syracusan hoplites - in description there is statement about their differences with mainland hoplites -> longer spears and so on...

From where this conclusion was drawn? Can you point me to some sources on Sicilian Greek armies (specifically 310-307 B.C., but any will do)? If there is archeological evidence, please tell me - I`m not a student of archeology, rather literature.

    Thanks for answer.

I dont have an answer for you, but check the bibliography thread if you havent already. Also, I believe Keravnos is very well informed on Greek matters and is a part of the team, might wanna ask him.

    Yup.
Bibliography Thread might help you find the source EB team used. :) Good Luck!
