Default Disgraced Princess/Watching Out for Milan

    Dear All:

Greetings from 2008 from Canada!! I hope this finds you and yours recovered from the Yuletide.

I had been playing as Spain when I sent one of my Princesses to England for what, as one scroll said was a "simple seduction" of the governor of Bordeaux, Geoffrey Browne, but something wonderful happened--my Princess fell for Geoffrey head over heels! The next scroll said that my Princess was disgraced, but this was where I didn't understand the Middle Ages' way of thinking when it came to love.

I figured it this way: She's in love with the guy, and they're happy, which made me happy. I also didn't have to fork over the mucho dinero for the big wedding. He was happy. She was happy. I was happy. It was a win-win situation for all concerned.

I do realize I wasn't thinking like a Spaniard about this, but hey, who am I to rain all over their parade?

Any observations, comments and thoughts are welcome, as always.

Secondly, with apologies to anyone who had played as Milan or is now playing as Milan, I'm afraid to say that you can't be trusted. Last Friday night, I'm playing as Venice, and my diplomat had just left from a diplomatic visit from Milan. Well, guess who's turfed from my Capital but none other than the Milanese spy himself?

Needless to say, I provided my own version of a public execution, via one of my assassins.

Any observations, comments, thoughts and notions are always welcome.

In closing, my best wishes to all from Canada for the New Year. May it, for all, be a lot better than the one that'll end tonight!!

Live long and prosper, take care and thank you kindly!!!

    Sincerely yours always,

    Indy.

To understand their perspective on the marriage you have to first imagine that you're the sort of father who would order his daughter to marry a man with the explicit purpose of changing his loyalty. I don't think there are very many modern human beings who could come to terms with that idea, so it's probably hopeless.

Really though, you can't blame Milan, just blame the AI in general. The strategic AI and the diplomatic AI do not have the same goals, so their diplomat could've offered you the world and their generals could still be plotting your demise. Nature of the game. ;)

In mz current campaign (portugal, VH/VH) scotland attacked me. Few turns later diplomat offered casefire. DURING same turn they attacked me (besieged rennes). After having their army crushed, they offered casefire and attacked again.

    Gentlemen:

With this being the case, what should I do in case Milan pulls the same gag? I've got plenty of assassins in case it does.

Speaking of assassins, do you think I was a tad hasty in sending the Milanese spy to his Maker?

Live long and prosper, take care and thank you kindly!!

    Sincerely yours always,

    Indy.

Being a spy is a dangerous profession. Every nation uses them, every nation hangs them high (or worse) when they find them.
