spies and imams

okie dokie, i am currently playing as the egyptians...and have just started using spies and imams to do their work. However, for some reason i am having trouble understanding how spies and imams can increase their valour because for example i have had my imams preaching in my lands for about 10 turns now, but i have not witnessed any increase in their valour...when does it start increaing? after about how many turns.

Also just one more question to have a successful rebellion in an enemy land what is the recommended valour rating, at the moment i have about five spies all with a valour rating of zero i sent them all into the enemy province...and you know what, four out of five were caught and killed. it just seems almost impossible to use my spies in the late stages of the game is their an easier and quicker way to increase the valour of spies and imams? thanks anyway.

Preaching will not increase an Imam's abilities. Use him as an emissary to increase his valour.

What do you mean use him as an emissary? can I forge alliances with imams? also you forgot to mention about spies, what is the best way to increase their valour?

spies increase in valor for succeeding to cause a rebellion or in finding secret v&v's.

MTW has a better system than STW. You can drop you emissary on other faction emissary to forge alliance. I haven't try using religion agents such as Bishop and Cardinal. I think each type has a special ability.
