Still loving it!
Great to see your back. Hope the big break from the Waste Land has left you with plenty of motivation. Happy to see your writing style has remained much the same.

Agreed, and I also enjoy the comic-book-esque appearance of the images, quite unique!
sorry for the delay to everyone was interested in this.
I will try to make the Table 3 for tomorrow if i can.
salut to everyone (@sdragon nice to see you back too, hope i will not loose the motivation!)

i dont know if it's a good thing, or just a menace...
here's table 3, hope there's people who like it, as usually any feedback is welcomed. I still haven't done the "This year in History" tablets, but i hope i can add them later (there are 2 or 3 to make for this chapter. Remember to press F11 on the keyboard and here we go.
TABULA III
Divitias alius fulvo sibi congerat auro
et teneat culti iugera multa soli,
quem labor adsiduus vicino terreat hoste
Albius Tibullus - Elegy
The Celts, This strange and misterious people, settled in a time forgotten, along the steppes of Central Europe, they are renomed warriors... as they started to trade Iron from the populations settled along the routs of the black sea, they soon spreaded upon the wooden forests of Northern Europe and Balkans, just like a fload... not much time later, they had already become a deadly menace for the urbanized people of the southern lands... we all know so well, they trust in war, the fiercy guys, as a straight way to achieve power and respect! and their raids, so nasty, will not so easily be forgotten by the greeks and the romans, who just too often had their massive and awkward presence there at their undefinite borders... but sadly for them, for Gauls, despite the greeks have become just a geriatric race at the end of their never-ending Decadence... well, Rome, the only Rome! ok, the city we all know, yes, ROME STILL TRUST IN WAR as a way to achieve the SUPREME POWER!!! So, i was saying... this people just chosed the bad company to come to bother at!
We have at our side just small things as a Superior Civilization, a Stronger and Highter Moral as an achievement, and yes, an Unbeatable WILL!!!
oh! sad boy who whine at a tragic Fate, what do you want to do, there's nothing you can do... put your words aside... history was already written and that's all...
People there lived happy and sweet, a sun just yellow smiling at their lives, wind as docile, caressing their long soaped hairs... and a red tiny lamp of soft warmth, colouring the chubby cheeks of their puffy sons...
but all this happyness, was going to a sudden end... cause the Romans had other plans for their lives. Oh poor sons, they will never arrive to grow-up and ride those chariots! The line of Time has sadly chosen a differen furrow to follow... uhm.... just go to ask to ladies of sorrow who are composing the texure...
that's the inevitable war...
and the battle...
they are tall, they are brave, they are strong!
...and they are all dead.
war in Cisalpine Gaul, proceded with no rest... one after another, all the villages burnt-out, all the settlements destroyed... some Gauls found a refuge in the lands of their nothern relatives... a lot of them had not even the time to take away the small things of quotidiane use, whole families were divided forever, entire lineages forgotten to dust... a shambles...
April is the Cruellest Month...
...and Autumn is the Eternal Season of the Mind...
C'mon Scipio... there will soon come, a Time to rest.
the last free village to follow its ineluctable destiny... well, Winter is the Season of the burnt stalks.
briefing...
time to fight!
Allied Italics are revealing themselves to be some good fighters, at last on holding cavalry charges... hope they are not going to understand that they are elected as the firsts to die in any case... Italics are relatively fresh absorbed in the Empire of the Republic, but they have just proven to be some fidelis allies, and as Rome dont forget their fidelitas in the war with the Pyrrhic Elephant, they are assigned to the more dangerous tasks... it's an honour for this brave people from Samnium muntains... (infact it's better to take them occupied to do something, we dont want them to start remembering their exploits at the Caudine forks...)
AH! What is friendship nowadays? what is that thing so futile? Who, in the world, can state with certainty to trust the words of a friend...? well, this man can't state it for sure!
cry, just cry! a tear can alleviate your pains...
to die without a mere single stranger guy who sit at your bedside...
And here's the true pride of a great people! Who prefer to sacrify her sons, than to give them away to enemies!
and the inevitable result...
yes, new blood is going to refresh our veins! but for now, to be sincere, we are more concerned on the huge booty we got from the pillage!
as usually world is wide and vast, and it's becoming even bigger now that our frontiers have opened to the once happyful lands of the Gauls! Senators cant restrain themselves, they want more and more, they got never sated... they are already talking of Sicily or even to further expand the Roman Dominions upon the inner territories of the transalpine Gauls... who know.

hope enjoied.

AWESOME!
General Appo 22:51 02-14-2008
Great man, just great.
thanks both you two for the feedback!
i hope this is not misunderstood on the writing, im joking with what i repute just stupid and dangerous concepts like "imperialism", "superior civilizations", "those are my anchestors!!!", "i live on the roots of my glorious dead anchestors" etc., and im trying to put myself in the optical of the mad imperialist guy, just to try a different perspective (very very faraway from my thinking)... hope this is understood, as much as the irony i try to put behind these bad concepts.
Sayd this just cause people could thing something completely different, who knows...
we are humans, we are just crazy...
EDIT: i added the little glossary of table III: "Submission", in the first post of the thread (under spoil)
There is (badly) translated the first 3 verses of the elegy by Tibullus.
Hilarious! Keep it up!!
*Giggle* Excellent, excellent! *Giggle*
Epically funny!
Fantasically good

Imperialism is soo underated
thanks people, moosemamno there will be for every taste i hope... here's a small appendix to table 3, to introduce the next chapter, remember i cant retrain troops, so it's slow for me to replenish armies. But as i got expanded enough, i will start to create some forts in the "hot-points" of the map, when i mass reserve troops, ready to be merged with old troops. for now i just train a fresh unit in Arretium or Roma and send it to merge with one of the 2 actual legions, so it tooks some turns.
TABULA III Appendix
here's some pergamenes found among the dust, code 270SPQR-MADRID1701:
strange things to understand... there's a number 269, code is DRESDA1945
and a 268, we dont understand the numbers, but there are written things that actually happens! (code NAPOLI1503)
bah.. who knows, 267VENETIA1453, strange numeration...
as the Mamertines, campanian mercenaries enroled by Syracuse, had to turn back in Italy, part of them decided to stay in the Isle...
They are named after the War-God Mamerte, a god worshipped among the Oscans... a strict relative of the Roman War-God Marte...
well, this guys took Messana, and used it as a base for their piratesque exploits among the sea-villages there around the coasts...
...but as the syracusans were almost to conquer the town, this mercenaries finally asked help to Chartage...
...not much time passed than even the punics were not welcomed anymore, so they called Rome to free the port of the town by the Chartaginian presence...
he got the mission!
and a last pergamene found by Gito for a change in Capua... it's named 266SPQR-LUTETIA-CODE1872
there will be again i guess, we are starting to find this strange papers spreaded among the map...
there were no such plague anyway, let's hope there will never be...and that we have eyes to see what is going to happen in the next episode of SoA...
Watchman 01:35 02-18-2008

Hokuto Shinken go so well together ?
Genius at work, no two ways about it.
Moosemanmoo 14:00 02-18-2008

ahah! well, if i well remember, i had no problem to fight Romans and conquer italic provinces with, lets see: Aedui... ah, Chartaginians too, ah lets see... Epirotes..., ...Iberians..., there should be a pair of factions more i did that in this 2 years...

it's just game-fiction, and it can be a way to exorcize these kind of things from your subconscious i guess
enyway im not sure... next table, we could see somethink even more bad than Raul...

Great to see that you have managed to overcome the life-issues
You are the true King of EB AARs!
I wish you a lot of inspiration in your work, may Clio be with you!
And this time I plead you: For God´s sake have a backup of your story - a .pdf or whatever - in case that something nasty happens to forum servers!!! I hope it never will but you never know ...
This is great! I loved the wasteland but this is possibly even better!
thanks everyone for support, your feedbacks are all motivation bonus points to continue this...
@VT_Marvin thanks for compliments! a bit exagerated

but thanks! (anyway i have backed-up, dont worry friend)
i was 3 days out, and not enough, now that im back, i have a catch cold... hmmm... so, i dont know when i can put this back on track (also i should do my duties for Parthians as betatester...), but i will do my best in this days.
anyway when i sayd i was thinking to reintroduce the guys from the Delta Quadrant (you know, i have a strong need to get assimilated... i love them, is stronger than me...), i intended something like this:
Caius Aurelius Cotta
but im still not sure, we will see...
General Appo 00:58 02-23-2008
Beautiful. You must have a borg in, perhaps a unit of borg Triarii´s.
But a borg General would be great as well.
Ah Obelics ,You totally surprised me

It's very good to see you decided to continue this AAR

Looking for more ... Good luck !

here's an update, thanks everyone for support as usually, that's really important, kambiz thanks friend, i hope i can continue it, but the problem is that im slow! uff! Subudei, nice to have you back here too friend, hope you will not be deluded by the "different", ok lets say "evil" perspective im trying to use

, anyway there is a guest star there inside, hope i haven't done a great pastiche... ok i just think it's just a messed up huge pastiche, anyway here it is:
(remember to press F11 on the keyboard to enlarge the browser, and let me know if you can see the pictures, anyway, it was an hard work to try to make those Siracuse hoplites to look good, cause they appear way too bright in the game... i had to lower the saturation a lot with photoshop, i have the same problem with the shields of the roman equites)
TABULA IV
there was this so called poetaster, Eumolpo, a great, great poet of wide countryside importance...hmmm, this famed guy, whose fame is spreaded in the fuor corners of the known world, ok, just there around his two hundred people village... well, this guy started to tell us a really strange story... he was talking of a beautiful matron from the blessed town of Ephesus, who was so famed for her great sense of fidelity and for her uncorruptible sense of familiar pietas... well, he sayd, she, the beautiful matron, had the sad disgrace to loose her beloved husband yes, and that was an huge loss, a tremendous fact we see... it seemed there were no way to turn back from that so unexpected shock... so, I say... this husband was taken in the tomb, and the good and young, and prosperous, and fleshy, and i dare to add incredible sexy wife, decided to pass all the nights, and all the days, there inside the Tomb with the corpse of this husband... wishpering and screaming to the four winds...
But Fate, or Fortune... or whatever you want to call it...
O fortuna
Velut luna
Statu variabilis
Semper crescis
Aut decrescis
Tu rota volubilis...
ok i was saying the Fate, we know the Fate cant stand a day without just joking with the lives of us poor mortals... so, this Fate so nasty, decided to prove her so widely famed fidelity... her uncorruptible family pieats...what is this anyway? oh look, another of those strange pergamenes...
hmmm... just to continue the story... this infamous poetaster here, he was telling us about this Matron from Ephesus, and well, there were some Latrons... who were crucifixed there just near the Tomb of her poor husband... and, to keep people away and to not allow their parents to rescue the corpses and bury them, you know... it is so important to bury a corpse, if you dont bury it, its soul will not be able to find a peace, and ghosts will come in your room in the night disturbing your dreams... not even counting all the times they could steal the keys of your car... ghosts are scaring .. and the latrons had to not find a peace... they were criminals we know, and criminals deserve that...
But what? ah yes, you need to be updated here on dominions of the Republic, so lets see, lets see...
a Second Legion heading for Messana... The camp is setted there on the Island, so the dice has been thrown, and bunnies came out of the cylinder... we have definitively put our noose in the international affairs of the world there outside... and yes soldiers in the camp are waiting there in the night around the lamp of a fire, the rest of the story of the Ephesian Matron as Eumolpo was telling us...
well, here we go, we have this unconsolable widow who cant leave the Tomb of her never enough complained husband, and these 3 Latrons crucifixed there around the tomb... and as i was saying, to keep people away from the crosses, there were a Soldier, a beautiful young man blessed by the God of Love, who had this too delicate task to keep the guard at the agonizing Latrons... and to not allow people to steal their bodies to bury them...
But, as often happens in every story, just a few hours there guarding the crosses, and the Soldier well... got bored...
So, why to not go to visit the unconsolable widow there whispering and crying inside that tomb?... Oh my... a man, strong and muscled and ehm... well equipped... and an unconsolable happy widow, who was not only famed for her unarrivable fidelity... but also for her white marble tender fleshes and the black silk hairs, not even talking of the huge hills pending from a gifted breast, well... these two, there closed in a tomb there in the underground... in the night... at the lamp of a candle... with the wind breezing outside and all the things... in the night, ok ive just sayd that.
So, to not bore you anyfurther... well... ehm... uhm, ok! IT HAPPENED! The unconsolable widow just thought: "WHY NOT?" and BAAAAM! PATAPUM! Two days and two nights with no eating, no drinking, just doing that all the damned day, and the whole night, with no rest, like rabbits... PUM! PUM! PUM! It was sayd, that as the poor soldier came outside the tomb, his face was even more pale than that of the poor husband of the widow unconsolable... he was barely able to stand on his own legs... but as his eyes became used to the sunshine... then watch! OH NOOO! who would believe that! Someone just profited of the two sweat days he passed there closed in the tomb... and well, one of the corpses of the Latrons was stealed! That was to say he was going to be crucifixed too, himself in person!...since he didn't achieve that delicate task... well, he just turned back to the widow crying like a child, and started whining left and right about his tragical Fate... but then... well, you wont believe it, the beautiful matron, whose heart was moved to pity, just had this thought: it's way better to crucifige a single alpretty dead husband, tough complained, than to find herself alone in a wild world, with two dead lovers, one dead and buried in a tomb, and one dying upon a cross. So that's it... they decided to move the corpse of her dead husband from the tomb, and brought it on the cross there in the place of the stealed Latron body... so that no person could think the soldier had not accomplished his duty, and the unconsolable widow, well, this tender heart... got a new friend to enjoy for the rest of the life!.. and well, nobody thought the widow lost her family pietas, since the tomb was sealed and that's all folks...
but to turn back on the second legion, here we see Messana was not that difficult achievement:
what we could have expected?
but thinking on that story of Eumolpo, a sense of sadness and melancholy take my delicate heart...
AH! That's the truth on the femal infinite fidelity my friends and on their unremovable heart... and on their firm soul! Those are women my poor bastards! bah... ok, too melodramatic... anyway lets try to think on the positive! yeah, that could be true, but it's even more true for life, that always like to joke with whatever stupid social conventions we are capable to invent...
and another strange pergamene... this time it talk of 264 b.C. strange way to count the years...
Gerone, the Tyrant of Siracusa, he was officially a friend of Rome... really a nice friend, we are just going to visit him, so to see how much friendly he is...
and a 263 b.C. one... again i dont know what to say about it...
a guy was sent there in the town to prepare for us a deserved welcome... hope he is doing well, we dont expect too much, just flovers along the streets and people kneeling at our side... a TRIUMPHAL MARCH!
but things never go as you want... there were this son of Gerone, Geronimo, who thought it was not the case to allow our friendly visit...
and... here we are! down the walls... they took forever to decide what to do... c'mon, we are friends! our guy has obtained to open the gates in some way, so we cant stand there waiting forever, it's time to show them something!
a presence so unexpected... what's up with The Artifex?
if only we would have waited just the time to build some engines! No way to regret anymore...
hmmm... well, this Geronimo opposed a pike-wall of their best hoplite warriors, the more trained, the more experienced! just there behind the gate... AUGH!
let's call it a diversive manoeuvre...
with the gates taken, we can start to move as we are used to do...
surrounded and well... destroyed!
Gerone is going to loose a son... what a loss! We bet he will not have the face to show us some anger, as we get to his tyrant palace...
tender hearts... easy to broke...
...it was really a battle fought bad, if only we would have waited...
So, what'up with that strange guy?
Ok, but no-one answered the capital question... WHY THE HELL HE WAS THERE!!! Hmmm... no-one knows what is passing for the head of our ARTIFEX SUPREME... and no-one will ever know... but yes, we have feith!
and a look to the three times horned Isle...
and a new year, this 2-6-2...bah
hmmm... what other to add, you got that story of the Ephesian Matron, some pics not too bad i hope, a pair of battles, and well, 3 good romances are all a man can hope to achieve in a life... ok that was the good old Ernie who used to say that, so i dont know why im just saying that... ok the land is vast and prosperous as usually, people is happy, life is beautiful, and world is wonderful... and perfectly round... like that big red round apple just waiting to be bitten there on the table... at last if you dont care the nasty brown worm fat and juicy there inside, that is just wondering... how can be sweet a Life there inside that big, and red, and round apple... and that white juicy pulp to eat away... slowly, gnam... Gnam! GNAM!
TBC
hope enjoyed

Once again, brilliant!
Yes, it is the evil side of things "Curses, Borgs & Chicken Soup"..I mean how bad can they become, man!.....I read the tables & had a good laugh & a good time my friend.
Good lord, 13 steps and boom! Can they do it to Carthargian war elephants too? May be of good help within the next couple of turns, as soon as Baal-pimping & baby eating Silver Shields want to camp inside Roma`s walls with their little pets!.
BTW I was reading a book about the Roman army last month...so I kinda left the "Waste Land" setting a bit too.
I think your graphical skills got [even] better too. Respect out!
Sub
