But isn't that an indication that the AI doesn't know how to control the more mobile troops accompanying the hoplites, instead of the hoplites themselves? Hoplites are always easy to flank, it's the supporting troops that prevent that from happening.

My favourite will always be cavalry. I remember when I shot up army after army of hapless Seleucids with Parthian horse archers. Or the time when I led a flying column of Long Shields into Italy, ala Hannibal. Good times.
