My computer just suffered a catastrophic hard drive failure. The good news: my copy of EB was on my second hard drive. The bad news: Windows wasn't. Can anyone tell me how to make a shortcut that'll run EB for me? Thanks.

You're screwed because your PC won't run anything beyond OS level anymore without a proper OS installed. Aka: no RTW, therefore no EB.

That said, nothing prevents you from fixing it. (Using respawn-disks for instance.)

EDIT: You can still use your HD to run EB, but it'll require a different machine with a compatible OS to run. (If your HD can be connected to that machine that is, something which should work with external harddisks but is somewhat more tricky with internal ones. Also, note that if you do that you can't re-install your OS& stuff on that drive in the meantime.)

I don't know how but your situation is, but if RTW still works on your PC...

Just go into the Activision or The Creative Assemby folder - depends on which version you have - and copy your ordinary RTW icon to your desktop (= create shortcut).

Then go to the properties of your new shortcut and add " -mod:eb -show_err" to the target line. (without the "", but do mind the spaces, they're crucial!)
It should work then...
You can then go change your pictogram : the EB icon should be in your RTW folder and is called ebicon.ico

If your problem is a bit more complicated than that, ignore this post and look at Tellos'...

I apologize for not being more specific. I was able to re-install Windows on the second hard drive, so RTW does work. Anyway, thanks for the help, both of you.
