Default AW: Hot chicks in Antiquity?

The hot chicks probably hadn't had much breast. The breast size improved only towards the end of the last century because of better alimentation. The main advantage of antiquity's chicks was that none of them had implants. Pure nature to greet and enjoy!

Looking at the women of the past and the women of today i would say they wouldn't be as beautiful as todays "modern woman". In the past the what you were born with was what you had and women for the most part looked real you could see almost every (what would be considered now) imperfection. It was beautiful. Lets dissect the image of what the modern woman should look like. So skinny they look like a small gust of wind could blow them over. Hair extensions, Look like they visit the plastic surgeon everyday. I used to think that Implants look so Hot. Then after a while they just looked ridiculous to me. They completely turn me off now! I'm an all natural man now. And the most annoying things. Everybody has a tan ( i have people who start envying me because I'm dark all year long) ,everybody has blond hair, and everybody has straight pearly white teeth. I just love it when i see a woman who is just natural. My ideology is you look beautiful with what your born with.

Actually surveys show that most men don't like implants or plastic surgery. Myself, i don't like dyed hair, either, it just looks so obviously fake
Tan is ok as long as they don't go too far with it (the aforementioned grilled chicken), and teeth.. well, i have to say i prefer nice teeth

I couldn't agree more. And somebody should tell those chicks that skin should never be darker than the hair. Never.

Hmmm....what about those countries where blonde chicks can get, you know, sunlight? Nobody likes girls that are extra-crispy, but if you ask me, there's nothing like a *natural* tan...some of these Northern Europe chicks I can actually see veins through their skin at a distance. Ew.

    Exception:
Storm style hair (yes, I know a guy like that, it is actually a genetic "defect" that looks awesome and makes chicks melt). Heck, that would look freakin' incredible.

But overall, yes, skin should never be darker than hair. Also, the tan thing only looks good if its natural. (Great thing about living in the caribbean. A tan is incredibly easy to have and maintain). Personally I've always been partial to very dark hair (black (yes, black is natural, just incredibly rare to find natural. The way to find it is to check what it looks like when it reflects light. Natural black hair looks bluish or grayish. If it looks shiny or absorbs light its fake. Oh, and darker gray also means fake) or blood red), and very tall. The rest I don't really care so much.

back to the woman of antiquity. I believe they would have probably been as beautiful as woman in the present day except in a different way.

women in general were probably more natural as said earlier, but that wouldn't have applied to everyone. Roman women( and even men) were at different times ,especially the imperial period, known to use make-up, hair dies and other, sometimes harmful cosmetics.( this goes for Elizabeth 1's time also)

from reading books from different periods I have come to the conclusion, not that you should, that most modern people are generally wrong when it comes to ancient day women. Firstly when talking about white skin as beauty it is not saying pale or sickly white. It meant a more satin smooth white. you will notice, in books , that many times people with a sickly pale whiteness were considered ugly. people admired a white "alive" colored skin. A tan was seen as bad because a tan can many times roughen and harden the skins texture.

secondly talking about plump women this does not necessarily mean fat. It most likely means healthy. healthy in that the women were not so skinny that they looked under nourished and that their bones stuck out under the skin. fatness was not admired it was scorned as shown by the fat emperors who were ridiculed after they died or vacated their dictatorship.

thirdly I disagree that women weren't well kept. we tend to underestimate the brains of antiquity. for instance historians, in Egypt, quite recently discovered a manuscript describing how to make a tooth paste, which when made was found to be as effective as modern day toothpaste. In many ancient countries, especially Mediterranean, there was a high standard of cleanliness. other such things as sanitary hearths in medical quarters within roman permanent forts, evidence of successful head operations and advanced medical knowledge help to prove my point.

concerning Cleopatra it wasn't her beauty that attracted men but her wittiness, intelligence and strong willed character.

descriptions and even the not so trustworthy sometimes stylized art give ample proof that the general beauty points were still constant as they are today.

I think you may be misled by differing standards for men and women. White skin--the whiter the better--would generally be desirable for women but effeminate and an object of scorn for men, at least among Greeks and Romans.

Women like that are those that attract me anyway. I probably, for that matter, would have been attracted to Aspasia of Miletus....

I agreed with you all the way until you got all idealistic... Sure, I don't like implants or tan-on-a-can, the sick bullshit idea of how women should look like as plastered in today's stupid women's magazines or basically how women should strive to become the next plastic-fantastic Barbie-model who cares only for cranberry juice, or how many waters to down after every Cosmo or Marguerita at parties or the latest Paris Hilton pose. But man oh man, boning a bitch like that, and having fun for what two hours, to hell with morals! It's guilty pleasure and a sure trophy for the boys if you ever wanted to see them shake their heads in utter shock and disbelief! Not exactly something to flaunt with in front of your parents, but it gives you a few high-fives. It's all about the fun.

Then you can start thinking about having a sane relationship, and that's where the rule of thumb "If she doesn't look like hell when you wake up next to her in the morning", clicks like perfect. Just make sure she knows how to cook and how to clean. Then you're set for life. By that, I mean you don't need to splatter your own brains over the wall with a twelve gauge when she gives you a lip about doing the dishes...

Seriously though, what I like most about women is character. I'd be a terrible liar if I said that I dismissed looks, but by this age, it has become a secondary facet. Body-language, the manner and the speech. Those are the things that count. For me, she needs to be strong, independent and sophisticated. Otherwise, I'll be too much to handle. By a rule, they tend to be lousy in the kitchen, but they make up for it with sharp intellect, a good sense of humour... And bed-activity (I'm not kidding ). This is way above the league for the common plastic bimbo, or the insecure, sweet girl with bracers. It's all about having standards and demanding your own worth of character. I think in antiquity, especially amongst noblewomen, who usually were quite aggressive and very used to get everything in their desire with little protest, there is a fine selection of class right there, and back then no bullshit about the Atkins Diet or Weight-Watchers, the fuller the shape, the more feminine... It's too good to be true. That's basically it. It is indeed too good to be true.

In the Iranian East, first of all we need to get rid of the idea of Amazonian women warriors, and the stereotypical crud about "Xena". Life was harsh. Sometimes, if not outrightly often, you had to tend to herds of cattle, or till the lands or do some other hard labour just to barely survive the winter quarters. In the cold steppes? You'd rather see morose faces, almost sated on life, and the only thing preventing them from killing themselves is because they can't afford enough for an ample length of flaxen cords or ropes. Sure all the work probably burned off some fat... And dental, well, no insurance, but the teeth couldn't have been that bad; The breath could definitely be a bummer, though. Especially in seasons where herbs would grow poorly (It's an old trick... Some obscure tribes still tend to their teeth by rubbing certain herbs over their gums for a few minutes; The poor man's Colgate). I would have been forced to sacrifice my lofty standards, if I knew sex was going to be this great... Especially if I had the bad luck being born in the lower castes of society

Women. You can't live with them, and you can't kill them. I know that for certain, someone, thousands of years ago coined that expression. In his infinite wisdom, I salute his sagacity. From Mandane, today we have Kim Kardashian

I will never do the dishes in my life. My tactic is to make she very nervous, when they are nervous, they tend to go in the kitchen and start to wash thinks. It's a compulsory stimulum.

I and many others around the world are of the strong belief that the universe was created by a Flying Spaghetti Monster. --- Proof of the existence of the FSM, if needed, can be found in the recent uptick of global warming, earthquakes, hurricanes, and other natural disasters. Apparently His Pastaness is to be worshipped in full pirate regalia. The decline in worldwide pirate population over the past 200 years directly corresponds with the increase in global temperature. Here is a graph to illustrate the point."

@topic: I think antiquity health and hygiene would vary a lot from place to place. Your best bet would probably be a quite small barbarian village located very close to a river, or a people of steppe nomads migrating in areas with good water supply. Second best bet would be a roman or greek aristocrat during the time when bath houses etc were built out, but remember they had plenty of nasty things such as olive oil etc on them, probably stinking a lot since they would take substitutes to normal bathes, and plenty of disgusting makeup substances. Worst place to look would probably be other crowded "civilied" cities from the entire period, or smaller villages located very far from the sea or a river.

I know this is an old thread and I haven't read it entirely but there are 2 things I'd like to mention about the germans (the people(s) of antiquity I'm most interested in).
Maybe the hygene standards in the mediterranian area was very high but nevertheless, they had no soap. It was used by germans and afaik some celts (you can guess it because even in modern roman languages it's the germanic root. compare germ. "Seife" french "savon").
And meat was not an every days meal for the germans. I think this belongs to the old clichées of the bearded barbarian, wearing a winged/horned helmet, laying on his bearskin, sipping mead out of a huge horn and grilling a whole pig over a campfire...
My literature tells me that the mostly eat grain-food. But other grains, and thats also problably why they were talller.

One of the few things said by Tacitus which were very true was that there was no ability for effective farming techniques in the cold Northern climate of Germany without the technology of heavier iron plows, ect. Yes they farmed, but no, they did not eat mostly wheat/corn(the true one as in cornmeal, a grain not maize), rye and/or barley. They DID eat swine which could be cultivated from the forests and left to their own, a much easier food source than farming, which was also not something they especially enjoyed or reinforced culturally. Milk was important to their diet, as well as fishing such as herring on the coasts. The lack of localized, high populations in single settlements points to a lack of farming, which was invented and used for such a purpose... hunting and gathering then might be quite a bit undeestimated, such as with deer- despite not completely adhering to a nomadic lifeway. The closer the Germanics got to the steppe also they more and more they would have returned to their original pastoralist practices as part of the IE cultural heritage, although rainfall agriculture and rye (which can be grown in harsher climates) would have still been in use.

Wheat would not account for height- that is a protein based development, if considering nurture over nature. The carbs would allow the protein consumed to not be burned for energy, but by itself, cannot do what meats and high protein diets can. The only way vegetarians even survive today is with artificially engineered soy that has more amino acids than found in the environment. Mankind would have never developed the high brain mass it has without hunting and meat-consumption- it's a fact of life. Similarly, the population of Japan is quite a bit taller than it has ever been because they are eating more than just rice. The Netherlands has the tallest people on average in the world, but I do not know if that is nec. related
