Someone suggested I try Torrent and it seems to be working. It was painfully slow at first (sometimes .1 K/S ) but suddenly it's doing ok, although still slower than downloading normally would be on this connection.

With any luck I'll have it in three more hours (having already spent around 3 hours downloading).

Hopefully the patch for it isn't too big...

It seems to me that your download problem is not a client-side (your end, that is) problem, but a server-side one. Probably the server asks for a FTP login procedure at certain intervals, based on the size you downloaded or the time elapsed after you've built the transfer connection.

And the torrent's success strengthens the possibility of this assumption even more. Glad you've made it through after all.

No need to throw away Internet Download Manager though. Believe me, there is NO better when it comes to leeching files.

I would definitely recommend Firefox or Opera, if nothing else they have a small footprint and are easily installed so you have the option when you need it. Troubleshooting a wireless router when you're away from home is probably more work than just downloading the file at home. That access denied message is curious, but a download that just peters out probably isn't related.

Generally step one for me would be to test your ability to download a file from a source of known quality, to prove it's not a problem on the other end (And for a new/popular file that's entirely possible). Step two is cycle the power on your router and reboot your PC. Step three try a different port on the router, though that's a long shot it's also easy to do.

And, since you're not at your own home, step four is find a different connection somewhere else. Everybody knows somebody who pays for (Or puts it on their company's dime) the best local connection available.

    Good luck!

Opera and Firefox are both browsers with included download managers that work very well.

I'll definately be keeping the download manager.

I downloaded the mod successfully (and finally the patch) but now I get a fatal error when I try to play. I guess I'll just stick to vanilla for now, until I have better internet access and can afford trying repeatedly to download BC.
