I think it's too early to discuss something that hasn't even been confirmed or announced yet, pervergreen's right: No Proof = It didn't happen

I think there will be a player, weapons for the player, enemies and weapons for enemies. Possible is that there will also be friendlies and weapons for friendlies. The gameplay will most likely include fighting and movement.
The release date is likely to be before the sun runs out of fuel, possibly before Duke Nukem Forever.

I won't buy it. Call of Duty has becoming increasingly reliant upon scripted sequences that have no replayability. CoD 4 also included many areas with infinately spawning enemies who only stop appearing when you hit a certain trigger spot. If you take a different route to your objective than the one they intended or otherwise deviate from the pre-planned route, you can't advance the scripted sequence. I would get the same pleasure from watching the entire thing being run through on auto-pilot, since there's essentially nothing for the player to do but follow the script. Top it off with a ridiculously short campaign and you have a major disappointing title IMO. As for multiplayer, why bother when you have BF2 which does modern warfare so much better?

    Nope, no CoD5 for me.

Latest rumblings have it that COD5 (obliquely "announced" in this Activision/Blizzard Merger PDF Factsheet) will be developed by a new dev-house Treyarch, and be placed in WWII Pacific/Asia theater. Release date: sometime 2008.

So: maybe the gameplay will be less scripted. :hopes:

    Bah! Isn;t 4 enough already?

Seriously, while COD 4 was awesome, I feel that the franchise is starting to be more like Madden or something; they can't keep on pumping out games under the same title too long because there will never be or almost never be as much innovation as starting a new title even if the genre/settings/overall goals are the same

CoD4 is really good, but CoD2 extremely sucks - although lots of people enjoy it, I hate the lack of recoil on the weapons and the complete arcadeness of the game.

Methinks CoD 4 was a superb game and should be compared to CoD 2. I admit I enjoyed CoD 2 MP more than I enjoy CoD4 MP; but CoD 4 is still awesome.

I've played BF2; ze maps are too big. Tis a completetely different game. Close-up combat melikes better.

Am I the only one here who has played Operation Flashpoint? I mean, that old, really ugly game beats CoD and BF any day.

Thankfully, it wasn't the last of its kind. Armed Assault is an orgasmic game to play, and it's plenty of fun in multiplayer as well. However, if you don't like games which you can't just pick up and play without patience, I suggest Red Orchestra- It's my second-favourite shooter, after Armed Assault.

Anyways, Call of Duty 4 might have made for a Michael Bay-ish movie, but I'm no fan of games-on-rails. There are some redeeming qualities for CoD 4 such as being well-optimised, the nuclear explosion, the ending, and search and destroy mode on hardcore for multiplayer, (which makes me favour it over other frag-fest shooters such as Battlefields) but other than that, it's not something I'll play again unless a friend wants to.

I wish they expaned on United Offensive
It was fun stalking tanks, having ranged firefight, lots of room for maneuver. It was great! Then they killed, but it included sprint also, and had a nice assortment of infantry only maps to boot. My favorite map was the one with the Castle on top of the hill, with a fairly large town on one side and semi open country on the other. There were some very good matches on that map.

In short I agree with Tincow

And I played Operation Flashpoint, Roughneck, sadly I was too young to fully grasp what I was playing (I was like in Elementary/Middle School when I played it). Then I got rid of it and know I wish I still had it

    Aren't there enough WWII shooters out there already?! Personally,I'd take a Colt M4 with a 40mm beneath,over a Garand M1 any day.

That depends on the map. You've obviously never played 64 player Karkand or 32-64 player Gulf of Oman, to name two of my favourites.

If you have two really good, even teams on Karkand with good squads and squad leaders, the game really opens up. The street fighting becomes really intense, without the grenade spam that happens in some games at the Hotel, which can really get annoying. In short, if one American squad can take the Suburb or Factory ASAP, it's the best game of BF2 you'll ever play.

COD4's multiplayer was as good, if not better than Counter-Strike!! No one gets bored of these type of online games. However, if they choose to go back to WW2, than hello Rainbow Six Vegas 2!
