    Default Egypt

I swear they must be chosen by God (the game engine) or something.

Why is it that they rule the map in like almost every single screenshot I have seen in both EB and Vanilla?
    That is so not good.

Every version of EB has a faction who dominate almost every game, in 1.0 it seems to be the Ptolies. The consensus seems to be it is their ability to recruit galatians across a large part of the map which causes their dominance, I believe the team are looking into it for 1.1.

In one of my campaigns the Ptolies got as far as Seleukia, but then they started a war with Carthage and the Seleucids came back and crushed them.

More odd is that in just about every game I've played, the Getai just sit there and do nothing. Hayasdan isn't much better.

The key seems to be whether the Ptolies manages to capture Antiochiea early or not. In my Getai campaign, the AS managed a succsseful war against the Ptolies, driving them back to egypt.

I don't think it has much to do with the fall of Antiocheia. In my campaign (Casse) it fell to the ptollies really quickly but the seleucids have lost no other territory except Mazaka but are still surrounding the lazy Hai, and beating back the not so lazy saba and pahlava (with the help of baktria) and still finding time to take india. The ptollies on the other hand have no sand wars with either Carthage or Saba while pontus and the west seleucids (Sardis and Ipsos) are keeping Egypt confined to Side, Tarsos (under Pontic control until a few years ago) and Antiocheia in Asia Minor.

Then in another campaign (Makedonia) I haven't got 15 years down the line and the seleucids have already taken Side and still have Antiocheia so I've seen more silver than gold deaths in my campaigns.

Since i play EB the ptolies ALWAYS won the war against the seleucid. I'm talking also about the 0.80 version. Never seen the grey death in my campaigns.... Only the yellow killing machine

Currently sellucia and the ptolemies decided its best they take out poor hayasdan (me) together, rather than become any sort of killing machine. Its a very very tense stalemate.

In my Makedonia campaign AS and Ptolemy are at a stalemate. But that probably got something to do with me keeping them occupied on 2 fronts.

So far in my campaigns the only passive faction has been Casse. I have to coax them into moving their lazy butts by giving them cash via the console.

And then, after they've conquered the Isles, they have several armies waiting in a port for a ship to Gaul that never comes . A landbridge is desperately needed there.

The ptolies are huge in my campaign too: they just destroyed AS and are at war with Baktria (who is resisting decently, but still slowly losing) and they recently declared war to Hayasdan as well.

I'll have to cope with them sooner or later; I'm playing as romani and one of the objectives is to destroy the ptolemies... ouch

In my Romani campaign at 190BC I'm involved with the Ptolies in a low level desert war and around 210BC it looked like they wer hammering the Seleucids.

Now the Seleucids have made a comeback and both are evenly balanced at almost their starting positions!

In fact the only faction that have done little or nothing were the Lusotanans

In my campaigns (v1.0) the Ptolemies seem to have the upper hand most of the time... However, after some time they often get a ceasefire with the AS-that endures for a long time usually...
In my latest Baktrian campaign the AS has a ceasefire or alliance with everyone around except me for several years...
I wonder what the Ptolies will be up to now...

ptolies seem to own most games i play. though i've known teh AS to have a rebound and march as far as alexandria. i've also seen carthage conquering everything as far as petra. though these are rarities.

also, depending which faction you are and where you start (closer or farther away from da azzzian scene) factions seem to behave differently? is this imagination? coincidence? as i played hayasdan or pahlava i rarely saw the ptolies do anything. in fact the borders remained the same for decades? in the case of the pahlava i was pressuring the AS and driving them west though that only started from around 250-240 BCE, and as hayasdan i didn't attack them till the 250's so i think your behaviour towards a faction also influences the cause of the game.

In my campaigns it has ever been the AS who rule, or at least stalemate the κίτρινοι, if I may use that term..

In my Arverni campaign, none of the factions followed expectations. The Sweboz left me in peace and tried to expand westwards, the Lusotana went to war with Qarthadastim, the Qarthadastim went to war with the Ptolies and are already have Ammonion and Paraitonion and are knocking on Memphis, the Baktrians went to war with the Saka, the Getai own(ed) the Balkans, Skythia and a bit of the Baltic, Makedonia took over the administration of southern Asia Minor and are embroiled with the AS over Antiocheia, the KH own all of Greece and are contesting the ownership of northern Asia Minor with Pontos, the current owners, the Hayasdan carved the Sauromatae into half, the Sauromatae expanded towards the Baltic before losing the provinces to rebellion, AS took India and expanded into the steppes, Pahlava and Saka are in this disjointed checkerboard fight over the eastern steppes, and the Saka own Ethiopia and are launching invasions against both Pselkis and Babylonia alike.

    ...Scary.

Egypt is my pain in the neck in my campaign and deems to have the upper hand against AS in all aspects.

Hmm. Ptolemies seem to beat AS in all my campaigns (unless I am AS in which case they're actually pretty easy to knock back, which is kinda weird since the AI apparently is completely incapable of doing so.) Otherwise, Pontus and Hayasdan seem to be doing NOTHING at all - theres eleutheroi all around them, but theyre doin nothin:/ But Bactria are active, all too active :/
Moreover, I advise that Syracusans must be added to EB (insp. by Cato the Elder )

Is looking forward to the 2090's, when EB 20.0 will be released - spanning the entire Eurasian continent and having no Eleutheroi - with a faction for every independent state instead. Look out for the Gedrosians, the Cretans and the kingdom of Kallatis!
