You're probably not going to get a very good gaming computer for $400. What are your current system specs? Maybe you can get a good upgrade to bring your computer's power up.
Try adding another zero.Originally Posted by Caeser The III

Here's the hands-down best gaming computer for around $400. Sad to say, it won't do Microsoft Office.
er, all it shows is xbox 360 systems.....

Caesar, what is in your computer currently? What's your hardware?
If you have Windows XP, check your hardware by doing the following steps:
1) Click Start, and then Control Panel
2) Your Control Panel will probably be in the category view. On the left, you can turn it into the classic view. If it's already in classic, or looks like below, then go to step three.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
3) Click on System
4) Click on the Hardware tab.
5) Click on Device Manager
6) Find the components and post them here. This way we'll be able to see if there's an upgrade we can recommend to bring your computer up "to code" a little bit.
Or you can just type "dxdiag.exe" into the run box and tell us your OS, RAM, processor, and graphics card. These are screens:Originally Posted by Evil_Maniac From Mars

~ $2000-2500 and you have WHOLE computer which is enough for most games at max..
Hmm, a little more realistically:
You can build a rocking game PC for around $1k. That's without a monitor. You can have a no-name company assemble a great game PC for between $1.5k and $2k, or you can buy a boutique gaming PC from Voodoo, Alienware or Falcon Northwest for $7k.
But the only way you're gonna play high-end games for $400 it to buy and Xbox 360. And bear in mind that the online component of that ain't free.
It is assuming that you are buying a pre-built top of the line name-brand computer with keyboard and mouse, plus a good LCD monitor with a 1680x1050 resolution (This is a minimum. I've seen monitors which cover a frikin wall.), a good sound system, and a handful of upgrades such as graphics cards and extra RAM if you need it.Originally Posted by Caius
I think you can knock off a thousand if you build from scratch and settle for a standard monitor, but the original poster did say "best"...
Oh, and don't forget comfort mouse and keyboard pads. I'm serious, my wrists don't hurt anymore.

I knocked of $2000, got a new LCD Widescreen Hanns-G monitor with it, used my old mouse, and got a new Logitech Surround Sound system, all componets brand-name and brand-new. It's a question of smart shopping.Originally Posted by CrossLOPER
