The long road is a mod, that makes the game 900 turns long, and adjusts everything according to it, for example, makes complexed era-based recruitment system and realistic building times. Check the TW center forums to find it.

It was one of the first mods for M2: TW, but I still think that it is one of the best. 900 turns doesnt mean that you will take over the map in 150, and never reach later dates - gameplay has been fixed to add difficulty and prevent fast expanding.

Ps: here are the list of all features: http://www.twcenter.net/wiki/The_Long_Road

Is this mod compatible with the 1.6 patch and Kingdoms?

Also, Why is there no Protestant Reformation in this game? It ends in 1580 and Large parts of N. Europe and England were no longer catholic at that time. It seems that it could add a significant element to the diplomacy

Do not know about the Reformation, but the mod is compatible with all the latest patches, and kingdoms doesn't affect it.

I downloaded this mod and played through it

It isn't bad but it does require a different mindset. It did have an unexplained CTD as the Byzantines but seemed to work fine as Scotland.
