    Default RUN forest RUN!

Playing one of my roman campaigns when conquering greece I had spies in all of the remaining greek cities.
I noticed that although they had no family member left their faction still existed.
After some looking but not finding in the nearest lands I decided to toggle fow and see where this little scoundrel was hiding himself.

Maybe he was roaming the world in search for new allies to aid his faction in dire straits or maybe just on vacation?

    Haha, funny.
Oh by the way, I would censor the S word before some nice mod censors it himself and censors you with a warning.

Ha, serious pathfinding issue there. How come you have given the Senate a settlement?

    Oh,

Thats because its proving to be an excellent buffer zone against the aggressive ai so helping in keeping my alliance with Zhe Germans.
Otherwise they would betray me in a split of a sec.
you know how vastly superior the aiís diplomatic skills are compared to ours right?

Even the dacians are proving to be far less aggressive.
I use this tactic once or twice in almost every of my campaigns.
None seem to be very much interested in attacking senat settlements.
Donít even think I ever seen it happen though Iím not sure

    That's hilarious!! lol.
Strange though, I have never seen SPQR get another city, Iuvavum in this case. What is the story behind that?
This is an interesting campaign indeed!

I've seen vagabonds in this game but this guy seems to have gotten lost - then took another wrong path, and another...

Also I'd like to note that it's interesting that my current campaign map looks kind of similar to that. Pontus and Egypt are the beasts of the East, Gaul is still alive and well, etc.

Haha thats funny, I've seen a screenshot of a fullstack Greek army in Scythia when the only city they had left was the one on the little Island that gives a boost to trade(doh, I always forget how to spell it), I wonder why its always the Greeks.

In my Numidia campaign, I saw the Parthian Factionheir sitting outside of Rome.

Pathfinding in R:TW, as noted, isn't always perfect. Although not actually in R:TW vanilla, in the Europa Barbarorum modification I've had a stack of Carthaginians land themselves in Italy and simply sit there - neither moving, nor doing anything useful such as mercenary recruitment.

BTW, Upxl, I'm curious as to the state of the region you have lent to the SPQR. Are the bordering factions attacking it on even marching into it? Recently a little research showed that no faction attacks the SPQR in Rome - I'm wondering whether this applies to regions outside of the capital.

    Thanks

I did not realise that path finding could get worse with mods..

It doesn't usually - I was using EB as an example since it was the most memorable of all path finding related problems I'm had on the R:TW engine.

Haha, this is interesting. Playing as a (non-Scipii) Roman faction, I've seen a few times a full-stack Scipii army led by a family member wandering around the vicinity of Pripet, not doing anything in particular, though I've never seen any other faction do that.

About the SPQR thingy, I remember we had this discussion too, a while back -- if there is a hardcoded limit against AI factions attacking the Senate, why not just give strategically vital but lousy regions to the SPQR? In fact, I believe that Iuvavum was the exact example I gave. xD

Haha, yeah, it is, but then again, getting your best general stuck in some German backwater because it will revolt back to the Germans with a gold-chevroned peasant army if he moves out really sucks.

If its to be named as an exploit I excuse myself of any shame.
That illogical ai is the one that took me to these kind of actions.

    Omanes:

The entire campaign no other faction even glimpsed in its direction.
Even Dacia who we’ve been at war with almost the entire time.
But the SPQR did build up a surprisingly big force even accompanied with some family members.
Although none of them ever crossed my borders to get there so they miraculously kind of spawned in there.
