I think AAR competitions are a bad idea. It could discourage those who write good ones but do not come out on top.

is there in the .org, a general place where to post aars?
ive only found somethink were there are almost all PBM aar...
I could post some of my olds if there is.
Well, there isn't a prize so therefore there will not be a ranking system. Therefore it will just be a chance to have fun writing. Therefore if people get discouraged by that then I feel sorry for them.Originally Posted by bovi
Check out the thread. There has been developments.
Personally, I think the point of AAR's is to have an "escape from reality" in something that's very entertaining. Competitions kind of ruin that.
Ditto that.I totally agree with Bovi.

Personally I probably wouldn't pay much attention to AARs in a competition format either, but I suppose if people want to participate in it they'll be aware they might not win. I think as long as it doesn't impact on the whole AAR thing outside of any competition maybe theres no harm in letting those that want to go ahead?
You never know, could even act as a catalyst for some great AARs.
My 2 cents

I agree with overweightninja (and Tom0)
After all, if someone doesn't want to compete, he can just write an AAR without entering the competition. If you enter it, you are aware that you might lose.
Of course, with the new "organization" with pre-made screenshots the thing changes completely.

Listen guys, I 've thought about this for some time: Why not create AAR teams instead of organising competitions? I personally have started 2 AARs, both of which I dropped due to the amount of time it took me to prepare each chapter and modify pics while moving extremely slowly thrpugh the campaign itself. If anyone would be intersted, an AAR team consisting of 2 or so players could share a save file and do cooperative work. This way, an AARs could be longer and not monotonic (meaning it would have mixed ideas). Even when one player would be bored the other could continue, or one could play through the campaign, snap pics and the other write the story and mod the pics and such.
