    Default Bloody Valentine

Well, since there are so many love threads in the forums these days, I'm assuming it's that time of the year again, and hormones are hitting the fan. So join me all in Valentine's day bashing.

Personally I'm already sick of the Hallmarks wrapping my city centre in pink/red/white hearts/roses/chocolate boxes. Even worse than that is that chocolate boxes that i would buy otherwise have their price hiked up 50%!
Plus, for some reason, everyone around me is getting married! What's wrong with the world?

And yes, I need to vent. SwordsMaster has feelings too. Sometimes.

You know what you've just done? I'd almost forgotten - now I'll have to go out and sponsor this horrible commercial enterprise...!

I didn't forget it although I'd say I don't have anyone to give a gift to, despite that everybody knows I'm dirt poor and cannot afford a gift anyway.

My wife and I did that a couple of years ago.

So, on Valentine's day, I happily told her that I was going out with a few friends of mine who were all single at the time...

The fiance and I are planning to bake Valentine's cookies together on one of the weekends close to the day. I have a few neighbors I've been meaning to show some attention, and home-made cookies seem a great (and not too commercial) way to accomplish that, while spending some quality time together. I'm also planning to give her a jug of pure maple syrup (perhaps not the most romantic gift, but when I discovered she'd never had any I made it my mission to change that), but that's to be a surprise, so don't tell her . . .

I went a slightly easier route - bought a big lump of chocolate (in a heart shape, of course) last month, and told her to save it. As soon as we have time, I'll melt it into chocolate "fondue".

That and I'll probably get her some little things as well - we don't make a big deal out of it, just get each other some very small gifts.

I make it, which she actually prefers. I take her out to a nice restaurant for our "anniversaries".

I've got some ideas for gifts lined up. When it comes round to my girlfriend on Valentine's day, i'll give her one.

One of the few advantages to having lost all my lady friends after moving across the world is that i'm no longer expected to give them all some sort of token of my appreciation of their friendship.

Yep, even though they're just friends, they expect something or they get in a strop for a week or two.

He's in a holy place now, the city of churches.

I get to go out the night after, so its not a school night.

That means I get to kinda skimp, because it will be my birthday!

Regardless...I should probably get her something...Must Dash!

Mrs Diablo and I do not celebrate Valentines.

Well to be honest I DONT.

I told her that I do not need some special day to tell her I love when I love her all year.

Also as for getting the roses?

I get her ONE DOZEN RED....

    Wise man.

I was foolish enough to get engaged on Xmas day (as in two months ago) so I feel I may be up for it this year.

My friend is getting married on Valentines day next year and that is a great idea. That way you wont forget the anniversary!!!

Why participate in Valentine's day? Such a cliché to pick up a new girl on that day, and if you already have one, you don't really need to participate in that commercialized crap (unless you have one of those annoying women with feelings, who start getting angry because you didn't arrange something for the two of you when she said you at all costs shouldn't arrange anything).
