    Hello there,

I av just installed EB. Played 3 turns and finished. Uninstalled it. Unplayable. Unfortunately. Because it is probably the geratest mod ever made with tons of great stuff, but it seems that theres is too much in it. It is so slow, loading between turns, that I just cant play it. I have a pretty good computer, vanilla RTW was working very quick. I am too impatient to wait almost a minute till the next turn loads. And why are these upkeep costs are so high? I know that somewhere on the forum is written, how much effort the guys put in this mod. I really appreciate and admire them for making this RTW modification. But, please, tune it somehow, to make it work faster. Otherwise only the most patient will enyjoy your fruit of great work.

    Best regards: Davva

There is a script mod which speeds up the time between turns.

Its slow because we put so much work into it. We aren't developers so we cannot tune things.

And there must be a lot of paitent people in the world as our current downloads for EB 1.0 is 70000.

So thanks for your reply, but it was worthless. We cannot speed things up unless we get rid of all that labour. If that means only the paitent can enjoy, then we know who will enjoy it.

Thanks Dhampi, what effect does it have on the game, does it cause it to be unstable or anything?

I agree it's only one minute... and I usually spend that time drooling over what I will do the next turn. Just give it another try.

When you have a pretty large empire, one minute load time between more than one hour-long turn is not so much.
And yes, it is for patient people, some factions need a lot of patience in the begining.

AFAIK it just removes the client rulers and some other parts of the script without intefering with anything too critical. You'll be missing out on a fairly large chunk of the game though.

Loading times are for thinking about what to do next turn and about grand strategy, and for doing pushups. I'm sure there are many other activities you can also come up with to do in the time it loads...

I can tolerate, play and enjoy it on my outdated and lower end system without any script butchering mods whatsoever.

I'd rather you tune down your graphics options etc. for a better performance and avoid the extra large unit sizes.

    How EB destroys love-lifes:

"Crap! Where did those Galatians come from?! Where are my Hetairoi?! I need to pin them down and then crash into -"

'Honey, did you take the trash out yet?'

'Whuh? Yeah, yeah' "their backs while they are fighting the Phalangitai. Now, if I can kill the enemy general, wherever he is, then I may - "

'You didn't forget about our anniversary, did you?'

    'Hmm? No, no...'

"-win this battle. WHAT?! How did that unit rout?!"

Situations like these end up in me getting murderous tendencies against anyone who looks like a Galatian. They can expect their internal organs to be distressingly external.

Seeing all you guys making up excuses for why it doesn´t bother you that it takes a whole minute to load a turn really makes me smile. Namely, because for me it takes about 5 seconds to load a turn. I love my computer.
Though if it took a whole minute I would probably still play the game, it´s just so good.

I don't come here a lot any more. You know why? Because you suck. That's right, I'm talking to you. Your annoying attitude, bad grammar, illogical arguments, false beliefs and pathetic attempts at humour have driven me and many other nice people from this forum. You should feel ashamed. Report here at once to recieve your punishment. Scumbag.

mofos' I used to wait 10-15mins! between load times!!! That why I told that dude to get F* out of here. Sometimes 20mins. And when I would play MP I had to restart my PC every 3 games or it would crash!

I am sure somebody still has it worst than me.

Anywho in the meantime I would read, I went through 1 and 1/4 books, and several easy homework assigments. I once tried to study but that didn't workout too well

Now-a-days after I bought another Ram thingy I don't have to wait so much. 2-5mins is the norm now.

EB is meant to be taken slowly, anyway. The mod clearly wasn't for the OP anyway.

I think the upkeep is fine, makes you really think about army composition. As the Casse, once I had all the British isles, I had enough money to field two full stack armies to invade Europe - one was a fast reaction and ambush force composed of my elite slinger battalion (silver chevroned and upgraded armour), plus good quality spearmen and swordsmen, and two units of Gallic mercenary cavalry. My other was a heavy brigade composed of spearmen, swordsmen, two champion units, two Goidilic hammer units, plus two Ebherni! And I was still making 7k per turn.

Okay. I've seen noob comments before, I've read them. I'VE MADE THEM! Because I'm new to the whole thing myself. But a 1-minute endturn!
That would be paradise. I usually have to wait at least four. And it's worth every minute of it. I read a book in the interval, for crying out loud. Improve my mind.
EB is for the patient, and their patience is rewarded, and how!
Take note. This is not a flame. You're probably a very good person and a good player. But take it easy and don't slam the mod just because of your lack of patience. Here's hoping you'll take a second look and enjoy it better the next time round. Good luck.
