Default How to cross a river

I'm a beginning modder and I want to replay a historical battle, namely the Battle at the Sabis of Julius Caesar, it's for a school project.
I'm fiddling around with the battle editor, but an essential part of the battle is that troops cross the river, multiple times and across the whole length of it.

Now I know this can be done, because it's done in the historical battle at the river Trebia, Roman troops cross the river there.
I've found the spot where that's done and when I use that map I can cross the river too, but just on two places and only those places.
Height doesn't seem to matter, when I raise ground somewhere else, they don't want to cross and when I lower the ground on the two places, they STILL want to cross there, only they drown in the process.

So my conclusion is that such things are defined somewhere else, outside of the normal editor, my question is -where- and how I can change that to my liking.

    Thanks in advance

Actually, the only thing I need is that troops can move through water.
Normally you get a cross when you try to move them there and pathfinding avoids water.
I want that GONE. I want them to treat water like normal ground. I don't care if it screws up the rest of the game.

There must be someone who knows how to do that?

Have you got BI? If so, could you use that as the basis for the battle and give all the types of units used in the battle the attribute that allows them to swim accross rivers (I'm not sure what its called but you can look it up in descr_units)

Unfortunately, that guide says nothing about inserting rivercrossings.

What swimming concerned, it seems to work remarkebly well, with units just charging through the river (cause I don't want them to swim) if the water's shallow enough.

Just two problems left, mostly because of inexperience:
I need units from RTW not from RTW-BI so I need swimming to work in the RWT editor or to import RTW units into the one of BI. Or could I model everything in RTW editor, change some things hardcore style and then play it in BI?

Second, I still don't know really where to add the can_swim command, I couldn't even find the descr_units file

So I need some handles here, every help is very appreciated

AFAIK you'd have to play it in BI, if you look in the tutorials sub forum you should find a tutorial for using RTW units in BI (its not too complicated)

Sorry my bad the file is actually called export_descr_unit and is found in the data folder (obviously BI/data for BI)

If you look throught the file you can find a unit that has can_swim and you'll see how it works
