Thread: Rome encountered an unspecified problem

Default Rome encountered an unspecified problem

Rome encountered an unspecified problem and will now shut down. Weird, although I suspect that it might be due to my not working sound system. Could any advise a provisional solution until I get my sound card working?

Could be an occasional CTD as well. Have you tried loading the game, and doing roughly the same thing? It is possible that solves the issue.

And on what did EB crash? Loading of a battle? Looking at recruitment? End of a battle?

Oh yeah sorry I forgot to mention, it's actually on starting the game. I can't start the game. When I start EB10, 'Rome Total War has encountered an unspecified error and will now exit' pops out

It could be a corrupt install.

First, try and run the EB Validation Tool, and see what pops up. If you are indeed missing or have corrupted files, post a log in the EB Bug Reports forum.

Try downloading EB 1.0 from another linky, and install from there (if it is a corrupt install)

I remember having this problem, and I believe I solved it by re-installing.

This thread will do fine for that .

But anyway, I'm pretty sure a full reinstall of RTW, patching it up and installing EB there should work.

Having problems getting EB2 to run? Try these solutions.

I do NOT answer PM requests for help with EB. Ask in a new help thread in the tech help forum.

Oh, crap, you're right. I forgot we were in the same forums.
