Default "There's a bonus in Shinano?"

Seems Shinano is the Daimyo's playground these days..

Never seen four clans on one battlefield!

The purpose of a fish trap is to catch fish, and when the fish are caught, the trap is forgotten. The purpose of a rabbit snare is to catch rabbits. When the rabbits are caught, the snare is forgotten. The purpose of words is to convey ideas. When the ideas are grasped, the words are forgotten. Where can I find a man who has forgotten words? He is the one I would like to talk to.

Woah. Yeah, that's a new one for me. I've of course seen all those clans gun for the province, but never at the same time!

Nice screenie, Wasp. Did you win, by the way?

Funny thing was, that I had held it for a long time, before Takeda took it from me (I only had a basic garrison stationed; figured it'd be the battleground - turned out I could've developed it!). Then, after defeating Takeda twice in battle in my homelands, killing Takeda Shingen, I saw they had only a token force in Shinano, and I had a small army to spare: one unit of Samurai Archers and two units of Yari Samurai. Figured I might as well take the chance and see if I could develop it this time.

On the pre-battle screen, I saw another force - figured it were Ronin, since suddenly there were several stacks on the map - and started the battle. Three generals blinked on the mini map, and I noticed Uesugi forces next to me. An ally? No, another enemy. Then a fourth general appeared at a cliff! Hojo seemed interested as well. The four of us took up positions, but nobody dared to make the first move (note: I play without the timer). I had the choice between attacking Uesugi, who had 40 Warrior Monks as 'prime' forces, and Takeda, who had Cavalry Archers, Heavy Cavalry, Arquebusiers and Yari Samurai, at least. I choose Uesugi, made a mistake concerning the Warrior Monks, but defeated them, and my move set all other forces into motion as well. Takeda walked all the way to me, and defeated my battered forces after I trapped their Cavalry Archers. I never even saw Hojo's forces, so I don't know what happened to them. Takeda held the province, in the end.

It was a nice battle, though. I had to be very aware of at least two armies, very fun.

That's nice Wasp, don't recall I ever had more than three.

Edit: to answer the question, yes Shinano has a bonus, more than one actually. It's one of my most favourite provinces.

-Cavalry trained there has a higher morale.
-It has sand and iron deposits => armoury => naginata and any other unit gains from armour.
-Income of 340 koku, which is fair.
    -Easy to defend.
-But most important of all, borders ten other provinces. This allows to attack all around and when some of the surrounding are yours, allows quick reinforcement.

The AI may be well aware of this, if not Shinano is the province which has the highest chance of multi invasions because it has so many borders. Never had it myself in a campaign though :(

I've had 4 Clans on the fields of Shinano before. I was Uesugi, Oda+Imagawa+Takeda attacked. I don't recall if I won.

    Nice battle!

Multi-army singleplayer games can be real fun. In a campaign you get few sadly.. :(

I reckon that Shinano is the only province that has a small chance of it happening. Especially in the beginning!

@ Tosa: I knew that already, but thanks anyway

I've had it happen to me, as well. Playing as Uesugi.......Takeda & Hojo are buddy-buddy and look to gang up. Oda jumps in in an opportunistic venture, and hangs back to watch the battle.

I don't wait for him though, because I figure he isn't here for a Sunday stroll, and since he is closest to my deployment area............he is the first to go down.

I survived the combined Hojo/Takeda assault, mainly because Takeda cavalry was much too impatient and chose to charge the hill without infantry support.....and it cost them dearly............

I had time to regroup before the main assault came in.

I remember this particular battle very well because I was so startled at the beginning to see Oda that I almost gave up the province. But I had too much invested and decided to make my enemies pay dearly even if I lost
