Thread: Man of the Hour

    Default Man of the Hour

Had a question about this.. cant find the info on forum sooo...

I have had officers receive this trait but it seems only those that are of some sort of "noble" birth I have yet to receive trait from any militia army, ive had archer units/swordsmen/spears/calvary/mercs (sudanese tribesmes even ..lol) literally any unit but never a militia... is it random for them to or not?

    Also...
when does a defending unit receive trait? Ive had a castle army defend same city 7 times w/o a officer and still havent received it. Same game I have cleared 2 rebel armies and received... offense over defense perhaps? Must your army attack instead of defend to receive?

    Many Thanks.

If you are short on family members to provinces then send a captain led army out to win some battles.

Thanks for the response(s) Tom0, as most do, I too have the problem of officers-->provinces. I meant specifically if anyone knows if a militia unit can or cannot be a recipient of the trait(man of the hr) also if a defensive or offensive engagement is required.

    Still lookin'

Militia units can be men of the hour in MTW2, and all that's required as far as I know is a solid victory from a captain led stack, defensive or offensive, while you have a high province to family member ratio.

Additionally generals who aren't family members, such as those France starts with, can become 'Man of the Hour' and be adopted into your royal family as well.

AFAIK it does not make a difference what unit the captain is.

Because it's the quality of one's posts that matter, not quantity.

Is there a fix for this or something I am missing??

I did some experiments last night. I have a pure militia army in Africa going back and forth from cordoba to lisbon clearing rebels. No Man of the Hour yet even tho there is only 1 officer in all of Africa atm =( In the same campaign i got trait from winning against a single 1 unit of peasants against a full stack that it appeared next to, and this was in a province that had a officer present..(lisbon)..also the troops in the stack were knights of santiago and 4 archers, the officer came from the knights. It seems random to me.. as well I dont believe that you can get it defensively...since I havent yet and now I have defended a castle 8 times in a row w/o receiving =( will keep tryin new combos... there has to be a way to make it more reliable.

In that case you could be correct in thinking that militias cannot be made FMs. My mistake, you are talking about Med2 not RTW. I'll do some tests myself..

Its not the units, its the battle favour ratio.

Has to be 1-3 IIRC. Easier if hardly any family members.

As far as I´ve been able to tell, you can´t get MotH´s from city battles, neither offensive nor defensive. At least I have never gotten one during my campaigns. Oh, and I´ve gotten a MotH from battles were the odds were in my favour, so that the odds have to be 1-3 is perhaps a bit off, though i am by all means no expert.
I do remember a Greek campaign in RTW though were I experience a sudden burst of expansion, I had 3 very good general with very good armies all situated near several almost unguarded enemy cities. In 20 turns I took something like 15 city´s, and after that I couldn´t fight a single captain led battle without getting a MotH. At least it allowed me to pick and choose.

I don't come here a lot any more. You know why? Because you suck. That's right, I'm talking to you. Your annoying attitude, bad grammar, illogical arguments, false beliefs and pathetic attempts at humour have driven me and many other nice people from this forum. You should feel ashamed. Report here at once to recieve your punishment. Scumbag.

AFAIK you cannot get MotH from defending a city since there is no continuity in the name of the captain name from turn to turn. In RTW I've fought a battle with my army led by a captain, got MotH, and then moved him into a city while I made the decision, only to be told that he died before the messenged arrived telling him he was being adopted. Seems likely that M2TW works the same.

Not sure why attacking a city wouldn't allow you MotH though..
