We Samnites were a warlike Italic tribe in the Appenines...we had little more than goats and wine to call to our name. We lost a 200+ year war to the Romani and lost our place in mainstream history. The Roman Empire would collapse several hundred years later, in an orgy of pain and destruction, and lost all that they had worked for. It is now nearly 2,000 years later. And do you know what the funny thing is? The Romani are gone. And I sit here in the foothills of the Appenines...herding my goats and sipping my wine.
