Default Trouble in my Romani campaign

I am having some trouble in my Romani campaign. I am at war with the light green barbarians on the campaign map (I can't recall the name because I haven't played in a while. I'm allied with the sweboz but I am still having trouble with them. And then earlier I made a mistake. I took 2 cities in their territory without having near enough forces to hold them. I will take some pictures in a few minutes, but what do you think I should do? Should I try to hold them till I raise some men to help defend, or let the cities fall. Also, I am worried about the Sweboz, it seems that have a tendency to betray people from what I've heard, should I trust them once the light green tribe has been eliminated?

Well, I personally would withdraw until I have a full stack army. How far are you beyond the Alps? Because if you haven't advanced too far, I would pull back behind the Alps, because then you can keep them to just three chokepoints, all within a turn of each other.

If they don't come for you through those points, keep building, and then attack with full force and fury.

The Sweboz MAY betray you, but experience tells me that they tend to get bogged down with various powerful Eleutheroi tribes further to the east, such as the Boii. Have they crossed the Rhine yet? Because if they haven't, then I would gun for Belgium quick to secure that natural border.

Although, I don't know what the fuss is. In order to fulfill the VC, you're EVENTUALLY going to need to betray them. It should be one of your raid objectives.

Don't you have a general near by? You could raise some mercenaries then to defend your settlement unitl proper Roman forces have arrived.

DO NOT - under no circumstances! - let them rebell back to the Arverni! They will get a hughe army inside for free.

Every faction might betray you. The Sweboz are not particular faithless. The question is with how many provinces you are bordering them.

    Hold the Line!

As Konny said, don't let them return to the hands of the Aedui. You'll have to deal with the spontaneously created full to near-full stack army. Buy a few mercs and hold the cities until you can build your forces up.
On the other hand, natural borders do wonders in EB - being a historically correct game and all. How far are you past the Alps? If not the Alps, find a river to hold the line at.
    Good luck.

I have one city above the alps but I have 3 to the west of them, that is what might be lost. All 3 are under attack.

Well yeah, don't let them rebel back to the Aedui, let the Aedui fight for it. Traditional strategy for a situation like this where you need to control a city long enough so that the enemy can take it would involve tearing down as many buildings as possible yet still maintaining order, and then let the Aedui have at your vastly outnumbered garrison.

    Essentially, a scorched-earth policy.

What ever you do, don't forget you are playing the Romans. That means you are out there with a militia army led by mayors and tax assessors to conquer the world. So, losing a province or an army from time to time is not much of a deal as long as you don't beg for peace afterwards but always come back, this time with two armies.
