Ah the question. Did the Abassids and Romans attack Jerusalem at the Turk's demands or at Jerusalem's own request?

Think about it. What better way to convince you that they were on your side than join you in your war. One might think it was highly convenient that all of my settlements lost to these 2 nations had NO garrison in them, while all the others did. Almost as if it was staged......

    Well der.

However, BK is still overdue so phonics should find a sub (though he won't have anything to do) or skip the Ayyubids.

I will skip the Ayyubid turn later today.

In the meantime, please enjoy the Turn 20 update:

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
    - Seljuk forces advance to Khiva, pushing the Khwarezm Shah into a corner.

    - After it is discovered that a Ghorid spy has infiltrated the Coalition of Freedom, Crown Prince Malik of the Turkish Sultanate suspects further treachery.

    - The Rajputs leave the Coalition of Freedom.

    - Prince Nevoulos assumes the command of the Eastern Roman Empire.

    - Breaking the news that an invasion of the Turkish Sultanate by the Kingdom of Jerusalem has begun, the Caliph annexes the Kingdom of Georgia (which becomes the Protectorate of Georgia) and declares that he will not intervene to assist the Turks.

    - The ERE falls into financial depression, and hands back the occupied Levantine territories to the Kingdom of Jerusalem.

    - The Great Seljuks leave the Coalition of Freedom.

    - The Turkish Sultan is understandably upset at the collapse of his Coalition and the invasion of his lands, as is the Crown Prince, who expresses his discontent in a rather unique way.

    - After one last sting in the tail, the Turkish Sultanate tries to secure its survival by becoming a vassal of the ERE.

Perhaps sending us the link to your forum rather than the link to the image itself (at imageshack or whatever) wasn't the best move.

Now that you have seen the members of the brotherhood that should be kind of obvious...

3 of the Coalition of Light members were just spying on ATPG and Ramses, merely pretending to help them, which Ramses actually figured out, clever fellow that he is.

Viciously paranoid fellow more like. I've played enough Diplomacy to watch my allies closely, and in fact at one point (When I passed Kolachee on actually) I suspected ATPG of having created the idea of the Coalition just to distract me from trying to win the war on my own. The trouble with conspiracy theories is you can never have just one.

It will be very interesting to see how things work now. Depending on how far Rome has made it into Kypchak lands they may actually have a decent shot at getting to their victory conditions... if the KoJ is willing to help them get there.

Wow sorry about that. I did not have time to check the forum recently. Flax warned me it was my turn, but I could not do it in time, sorry..

Hopefully this is the last time it happens. I'm done with my crazy surgery rotation, so I should have a bit more free time.

I just want to congratulate the "brotherhood" as it were,

This being my first hotseat game I was completely taken by surprise by this kind of treachery. Nicely done!

It's a shame I won't be around to see how you take command of the world.

why thank you sir - I must admit to being the architect of this treachery from the start...

I don't think it had really been done in a hotseat before, but I was partially inspired by the insidious plotting of the Illuminati in KotR, plus my super-backstab in the Britannia game gave me some confidence that we could pull it off successfully.

however, we are not in command of the world...yet

keep reading the story thread as we fill in the gaps for you - it's been really fun plotting away behind the scenes but it's even more fun to reveal it!

Bah, if you arent in control yet, you will be.

There's no one left who can realistically oppose you, even if they all banded together. Good work.

Seems the Coalition ended up destroying half of your enemies for you, then imploded.

The coalition seemed to beat only the Khwarezm at the price of losing Armenia. Hardly a roaring success.

It seems the Ghorids are also on their way out the door, though I suspect only due to Ramses' brilliance. I'll admit any help I sent them was too late.

Sigh... if I had waited one more turn before disbanding my forces. But, that's the way the ball bounces.

I do believe you. I believe you just as much as I believe that the Turks arranged for the Abassids and Romans to invade Jerusalem.

If it is true though, you have the strangest concept of being "neutral".

Hey, the "Peace Maker" bullied Georgia into submission, funded the Turks against the Romans (but who didn't? ), joined the coalition against the KoJ and orchestrated the obliteration of the Shah. That's hardly "neutral" is it?

The Turks hated the Latins... that is for sure.

But the Latins did have one charm... they never hid their hatred for the Turks. They would fight the Turks on the open battlefield. They would boldly assault their neighbor, without once posing as his friend.

That takes balls. And it's a consistent philosophy.

Those who make friends with traitors will soon find themselves surrounded only by their enemies.

    You hear that, Caliph?

Someday, one of your friends gonna get you.

The problem for the Turks was that they trusted the Romans.

I must admit I was trying to provoke you during the peace talks. I wouldn't let go of "you attacked my empty settlements thing" to convince you that Jerusalem was dangerous and had to be destroyed. It was all part of the plan to convince you Rome was on your side (by helping to get rid of me).

    Needless to say it worked.
