Rome specific treaties/events

So I laid siege to Messana and a message popped-up claiming, that this is a violation of some treaty. This means "Carthagians" will come after me? OK, I don't want to wage war with them yet.
Are there any other likely events I should be aware of?

Well, thanks, but there is nothing about the non-aggresion pact I mentioned earlier.

The reason why your advisor says that, is through scripting of EB which pretty accurately represents the Third treaty of Friendship between Rome and Carthage. If you don't want to fight a war with Carthage, simply leave Messana and Sicily in general alone, go north fight the Eleutheroi and come back when your strong enough
