    Issues:

1.) Threads appear as unread even after I've read them.

2.) I'm not showing up as the last person to post in a thread, even when I am.

What the heck is going on here? (I'm using IE7, by the way.)

#1 is always valid for me, which is unrelated with temp files/cookies. That's why I tend to mark the whole forum read at the end of each reading session.

Well it's the first time it's ever happened to me on these forums in 6 years (and that's on 3 different computers), so I was a little freaked out. I still don't understand why it suddenly started behaving oddly now after all this time, but deleting the temp files worked so I'm not complaining.

Hey now! You gotta remember that I'm pretty dumb when it comes to PC's -- in fact, it's probably safe to say that I'm a bonafide "compu-tard".

It wouldn't even occur to me to use a different browser, especially since I wouldn't have the first clue how to install and use it. I'm aware of the existence of Firefox & Mozilla, but I'm paranoid about using either of them; I'm convinced I'd somehow screw up something and then my machine won't work anymore.

Firefox 2 really is really simple to install and very little could go wrong Martok. It's a basic, light weight installer that at most will take five minutes of your time - no restarts or anything like that. It basically adds a multitude of files here and there, and adds a registry entry - no major changes at all. It's a lot faster and easier than IE's clumpy DNA changing methods during its install.

Firefox is also really easy to use and has an interface which is a lot simpler than IE's. Features and options are more easily categorised and IE and Firefox share the same shortcut keys. Firefox will also import all your IE Favourites and Home Page so you don't have to set all that up again.

If you can install MTW, STW or mods for MTW then you can certainly install and use an alternative browser.

Hmm. Well per Omanes' suggestion, I've downloaded & installed Firefox 2.0. Gonna take a little getting used to, especially the different font -- text on the forums here appears....thinner, and it's a little hard to read.

Anyway, will give it a whirl and see how it goes.

You can adjust the fonts to your liking. (Not sure of FF but in SeaMonkey you certainly can.)

    Update:

Browser froze up on me, and everything I had up disappeared. When I opened Firefox back, it restored everything I was looking at before the freeze-up.

My opinion of Mozilla is suddenly rising.

I switched to Firefox about 1.5 years ago and I've never looked back. Of course, I said the same thing about Netscape way back in the day...

    Hello Martok,

Use CTRL + to increase the size of the font.

Go to menu Tools, options, content to change the font properties. Don't forget about the advanced button there.

You can make it happen every time you exit FF.

Wait till you discover the multitude of add-ons that you can install.
One of the add-ons is Mouse gestures. It's so brilliant I can't believe how I ever browsed without it.
It allows you to command your browser by gesturing with the mouse (plus right button held).
You can move back or forward in the history, open a new tab or window, etc.
