you really need to be able to reinstall unfortunately - you've probably got more than just those bits of mod floating around in there

to try and sort out the world map you could try deleting (or better just renaming) the map.rwm file which will be either in your campaign or base folder
    look in rtw/bi/data/world/maps/campaign....

that regenerates when you launch a campaign and stores a lot of information about the map as it was last played - but as you have a mangled install it might not regenerate for you - be warned!!!!
Not used mods before? Looking for something small and fun?!

Yeah, I tried deleting the ol' "map.rwm: files (all 3 of them), but actually, it wouldn't start a new game, strangely enough!

Also, the "restore old campaign map" batch file didn't seem to help (not sure if that came with RTR or Napoleonic), so yes, I just reinstalled clean (after deleting Rome install folder).

The GOOD THING is that it didn't ask for my CD case code anyhow!!! Good thing, because as I said, I can't find the BI jewel case anywhere!

    Got lucky this time!

BI doesnt ask for a key cause it isnt a game by itself, it is a patch, basicly an official mod .. so you need a key for Rome and than patch to BI ...
