Thread: Images in Sigs

    Default Images in Sigs

Soooo.....created an image and made sure to keep it within the restrictions (10KB or less, etc.) but when I try use it in my sig, I get a "Cannot link to external websites" or some such message.

Are images not allowed in sigs?
I see members using them and have checked the properties and they're not hosted by totalwar.org so I was wondering what I'm not doing right.

Sorry putts - Junior Members cannot link to or place images from external websites in signatures. I do believe that this is designed to prevent exploitation of the feature from malicious characters.

    My apologies

Lucky, I feel a burning need to post my sig. Anyway, what about avatars, how do we get custom ones?

Sorry tweety - custom avatars are not permitted on this forum.

There is, however, the more customisable URL avatar system. These larger avatars are turned off by default, although can be enabled here in your UserCP's "Options" section.

Firstly scroll down till you see the "Thread Display Options" section.

In that area, you should find a section identified as "Display URL Avatar". Fill the checkbox, and then scroll down to find the "Save Changes" button.

Bear in mind that you don't have to enable URL avatars to upload and/or use one.

To select/upload an URL avatar, go to your UserCP's "Profile" section.

Scroll down till you see the "Additional Information" category.

In that area you should find a section labelled "URL Avatar". Click on the link to select an avatar from the gallery. You can then copy and paste the file path displayed into the "URL Avatar" field. Then select save to continue.

Alternatively, click here to upload an avatar of your choice to the gallery. Bear in mind that it must be in keeping with avatars already in the URL avatar gallery for it to be accepted and for you to be able to gain permission to use it. As a general rule, it must be around about 96x142 pixels and have the same theme as a period which any TW game, released or unreleased, encompasses. These periods are limited to Mid-Late Classical, Dark Ages/Medieval, Sengoku Japanese or Napoleonic Times.

After you have uploaded your avatar it needs to be approved by the Forum Administrator, TosaInu, who will verify that it is suitable and fits the mentioned guidelines. To inform him of the upload, you will need to send him a private message. To do this, click here.

Good luck tweety and welcome to the .Org BTW

The following statement is true. The previous statement is false.

This could be due to a variety of factors - collectively signature images must be under 10kb in size, have no sound and each individual image must be at most 500 pixels wide and 150 pixels high.

If the signature does not fit these limitations, you cannot insert it into your signature area.

There is an alternative option for larger images though.

Firstly, click here and scroll down to the bottom of the page.

There you should see a section entitled "Extra Signature Picture". Enter the URL of the image into the box and select to save your changes.

Be warned though - this picture must be under 100kb and be at most 500 pixels wide by 200 pixels high.

You won't see it at first - extra signature pictures are probably disabled in your UserCP.

To enable them, firstly click here and scroll down to the "Thread Display Options" category.

Then find a section entitled "Broadband".

Check the box to see the extra signature picture.

Scroll down and choose to save your choices.

    Good luck

It didn't seem to show up,regardless of what I did,so I just took it out. I'll put it back in,and maybe you or another administrator can come up with a fix.
Edit: There,it's back in. But,as you can see,it just shows a white box with a red "X". The banner shows up in the "Signature Banners for Fans" thread in the Wars of the Diadochi section of the mod forums. The one I chose was the first banner in the first post of the thread.
Edit II: Hey,it works now. Thanks!

So,no "Conan the Cimmerian" themed avatars, then, huh? Awww, nuts! I see what you're saying, though, about restricting the avatars to Total War themes.
