Default Kings of Emporion (KH AAR)

    Background

272BC, it is 50 years since Alexandros Megas died in Babylonia and the world is in chaos! In Hellas, the city-states of Hellas are at constant war with the Antigonids of Makedonia, heirs of the throne of Alexandros, and the brilliant king-general of Epirus, Pyrrhus Aeakides.

Winter 272BC, the city-states of Hellas come together in a alliance known as the Koinon Hellenon. Commanded by determined spartans, the cities of Hellas lashes out in a desperate attempt to drive the enemies away. As the king of Sparta Areus Agiados Lakedaimonios and his son Akrotatos sails for Krete to force the Kretans into the alliance, a Makedonian army besieges both Athenai and Sparte, effectively cutting the supply lines of the expedition to Krete. Soon, Athenai and Sparte falls to the invading Makedonians and the island of Rhodos is the last free city of the Koinon Hellenon.

The grief of the loss of Athenai and Sparte is widespread among the soldiers and when the spartans, hardened by struggle since birth, breaks into tears, the army desintegrates and is spread like leaves in the wind.

The spartan king Areus, along with generals of Athenai, looks at the map with a grim face. Where should they go? Hellas is closed, and the makedonians will surely wait for them. The Athenian general Chremonides suggests two places where they can regroup - Massalia and Emporion, both old hellenic colonies in the west.

The argument for Emporion is sound: the city has retained both its independence and connections with Hellas, while Massalia more and more has started to lean against the keltoi for support. The decision has been made, and in the spring of 271BC, the army embarks on their boats for the long journey for Emporion...

I don't come here a lot any more. You know why? Because you suck. That's right, I'm talking to you. Your annoying attitude, bad grammar, illogical arguments, false beliefs and pathetic attempts at humour have driven me and many other nice people from this forum. You should feel ashamed. Report here at once to recieve your punishment. Scumbag.

Fraps played tricks with me, so all my fancy pictures from my other campaign and this one vanished. "Bad Omens" will be easily restarted though, I hadn't come very far with it but "Kings of Emporion" is now at 268BC. No matter, both AARs will be updated soon...

Chapter 1: First years of the Exile

Snow still fell in the early spring, when King Areus died. King Areus had taken refuge to the northern city of Vellika, leaving the royal palace in Emporion under the care of Chremonides and his son Doros. Akrotatos of Sparte was made ruler after his father Areus, and by vote Doros, son of Chremonides was elected by the council of nobles to become heir as soon as he became of age.

To the west, the tribe of the Asturi had a strong city, Pallantia. As ruler of Emporion and of the tribes of the Purēnaía Mountains, Akrotatos also had legitimate rule over Pallantia as the Asturi took orders from Vellika. While Vellika had accepted their new masters, Pallantia had not. Struck by the loss of his father, Akrotatos left Vellika with the army for the west.

As the army marched westwards for Pallantia, Doros turned 16 years and thus came of age. Doros would ever be not the most promising ruler, as he was both weak in mind and in body. The heir of the throne had become a issue that would give problems later, if Akrotatos could not have a son to succeed him.
