lol, it must have been pretty painful seeing that one play out.
I've learned that native Americans very actually very disciplined soldiers who fought in tight formations and were just as technologically advanced as the Europeans. The Cherokee have so far taken one region from the 13 Colonies, and Florida from Spain (although I did take Georgia from them as the British).
At the end of the day politics is just trash compared to the Gospel.
Plug bayonets cant be removed for the remainder of the battle, lmao
What if it is actualy you who are crazy, and I am realy not crazy?... No, you're right... I am crazy.
lol
I learned Empire is a much harder game than M2TW. I also learned that the the Inuit are a race to be feared .
Oh and I learned that despite the stereotype the French will not surrender easily at all.

Bah, Inuit
It was an absolutely ridiculous idea to have them as a faction

A reed! Where?!
How many native factions are there anyways?

The Huron are not the undisciplined horde of savages I expected to mow down with muskets.
The Mughal Empire is not an empire composed of Moogles and are to be feared.
If it takes a few years to work out how to plug a blade into a musket barrel we will never cure cancer.
Especially the first one, I can see why the British Empire got itss bum handed to it a few times by natives. I make a medium army in Moose Factory and march into Huron territory expecting it to be a cakewalk. I get slaughtered by an army that would be out of date in Medieval times.
My view is that it is deserable to be both loved and feared; but it is difficult to achieve both and, if one of them has to be lacking, it is much safer to be feared than loved. - Niccolo Machiavelli

I learned that since the first scenario in "Road to Independence" takes place in America and only contains three provinces, all of which you have to conqueor in order to complete it, doing so gives you the "Master of the Americas" achievement.
I leanred the plug bayonet lesson as well. I was attacking an American star fort and had all my men fix their plug bayonets before grapelling over the walls. Granted, it worked well when engaged in close combat with the enemy infantry on the wall. However, when it came down to the base of the fort, having to bayonet charge a charging enemy unit of dragoons does not work out very well.
Stakes ... general ... keep away from.
First battle with that lovely Prussian seven star general too. Argh.
I learned that as I suspected I know NOTHING about 18th century tactics and I learned what it means to finally get my ass kicked in a Total War game.

"Sit now there, and look out upon the lands where evil and despair shall come to those whom thou lovest. Thou hast dared to mock me, and to question the power of Melkor, master of the fates of Arda. Therefore with my eyes thou shalt see, and with my ears thou shalt hear; and never shall thou move from this place until all is fulfilled unto its bitter end". -Tolkien
I learned the Dutch fluyt can be a surprisingly agile and powerful warschip in the early stages of the game, especially considering its a merchantmen. And that brigs and sloops are mostly useless in battle. They are too fragile and dishout too little damage to be of much use for that. The best use i got out of a brig was to lure an enemy fleet out of sheltering in a port with it.
Reading this threat plus having the game in my backpack to install it 2nite; I already learned: I am a total noob when it comes to warfare after the 30 years war..dragoons? use of bayonets?!? sailing boats??? ruthless Inuits!!!!... Now I AM scared!
BTW I payed 39 € for the regular version....is that normal? Expected it to be round 45-50 bugs.

Moose are apparently constructed in a factory in Ontario. Much to my surprise.
Ha-hah... you must be American.
The main posts for the Hudson Bay Company were called factories, because the "governor" of those posts were called factors.

I thought the world 'factory' meant a fortified merchants quarter back then, because I remember reading about the Dutch and Portuguese ones in India.

Rhyfelwyr is correct. A 'factory' was more or less a miniature town where merchants lived.
Examples include Dejima, the Dutch port in Japan where trade was conducted with the Tokugawa Shogunate during their isolation. This was something of an extreme example, because the merchants were essentially forbidden from leaving except to board/debark their ships or when called upon specifically by the Shogun (although this loosened up in later years).
I believe there was also one established in Moscow by the British during Ivan IV's reign.
And it's best not to make fun of American's lack of historical knowledge. I know a fellow from Scotland who had no clue who Oliver Cromwell was.

I learned that while play.com has free shipping throughout Europe and the UK, it is shipped in an oxcart.
If I am very lucky perhaps they will put it on a slow train once they cross the German border.

and conceals from the stupid,

So very true. They are otherwise the best place to buy from. I always compared play.com to an ox funnily enough, slow but reliable. It gets the job done eventually.
But in cases like this I go for the roadrunner that is amazon.co.uk. Fast as hell but occasionally delivering me the wrong game (twice now)

No, I chose the wrong word. The factor just manages the post. There is no "Moose" factor, unless his name was Moose or something.
